The Great Indian Bustard, one of India's iconic birds, once ranged across most of the Indian subcontinent. Due to a variety of factors, however, the Great Indian Bustard is also now India's rarest bird and faces imminent extinction.

We can only hope! When it comes to wildlife versus people in India....wildlife loses. Every time.

All creatures need to be save from man and the greedy industry. We must fight for all creatures great and small. They are dependent on us.

They really are magnificent birds. I pray that they are given a fighting chance thru conservation of their lekking sites as well as their natural habitat. Without a successful breeding program, they won't stand a chance. It would really break my heart to see these beautiful birds become extinct.

I get so sad sometimes, yet another species on the brink of extinction that needs conservation. Looks like things will get worse before they get better, but we have to keep trying.
