Wow - this is exciting news! The agreement to prohibit exploration and blasting in marine sensitive areas while further studies continue, is a big concession from the oil companies.

“Today’s agreement is a landmark for marine mammal protection in the Gulf,” said Michael Jasny, Director of NRDC’s Marine Mammal Protection Project. “For years this problem has languished, even as the threat posed by the industry’s widespread, disruptive activity has become clearer and clearer."

It is good news..And I hope they stay on top of it..

Thanks Cal..

Thanks but don't think that will help that much --- they just need to STOP drilling, period!

I know how sensitive I am to noise.

I have been so concerned about this matter of such torture for our whales.

This is a most important victory. See, w are making a difference...a very important difference.

I do not trust the Oil industry, they care for nothing but making money. Someone must keep an eye on them. Stopping them completely is the best plan.

Monitor the thieving bandits. They will lie about doing it. Look at BP. They say they were sorry about the Gulf and would pay for the damages to the environment and lives. Now they want to back out.
