What a horrible life for these people just to satisfy another greed of mankind. And you can be sure they see very little profit for all of their efforts. Thanks Cal.

Why don't their lives as worth as gold they risk their lives for?
Noted, thanks Cal.

It's change we need, world wide change.

Always it has been this way.

Lives cannot compete with money,

It is our mission to change

and change we shall,

Thanks Cal :")
Sadly these mines exist due to demand for gold. Also sadly those who work in them do so to make less than a poverty level income. Makes you wonder where the benefits are...what drives them.

Can't afford anything gold. Only have a gold ring, from my grandmother. Never had need for gold. Such a hard life, puts my complaints into prespective. No dust storms here, no being crushed in a cave-in, no slave wages...I'm warm and dry and reasonably healthy. Noted with thanks.

Noted. As in Brazil and South-Africa gold miners are the poorest of the poor, working and living as slaves to get their families, which is far away, some money to survive. And the price of gold only depends on the stock market, not on their wages. It's just another commodity to invest in.

The world is a dismal place for many of its people. Makes me very sad. Thanks for sharing this story, Cal.
