Many of these businesses, like hybrid automakers, will make money due to increased demand for products that actually help the environment, but some are profiting off climate change in more sinister ways:

Sinister? Some scientist and politicians do the same (Al Gore springs to mind), are they sinister also?

In truth, if I had the money to invest, I too would invest in "green" companies. That's business.

Companies are in business to make a profit. If it means they have to become greener in order to do so that's a step in the right direction. I'm not a fan of Monsanto or ethanol and since 97% of all corn is GMO the two go together. That is not green in my book.

Noted. Thanks for the info, Cal. Although I know it's "just business," it seems these major investors & corporations always seem to stack the cards in their favor. It wouldn't be so bad if they weren't so anti-regulation for protections for the common good. Then, they use their profits to continue funding candidates that will vote for more de-regulation, subsidies and tax breaks. They literally nickel-and-dime us to death, while massively funding their coffers.

If the US auto industry had been paying attention....ALL new cars would be hybrids. But, instead, they continued to pump out gas hogs.....couldn't POSSIBLY be that they're in the pocket of big oil companies...,.could it?

And that's big business for you. Anything to profit off of someone else's misfortune. Or in this case, everyone else's misfortune!

Seriously, global warming is a cosmopolitan issue; not to sound corny, but we're all in this together! Their pollution will destroy the world they live in just as much as the world that other people live in.

Agree I'd invest in green too if I had the money. Just because they're Ba****ds doesn't mean they're idiots.

I'm all right with profiting from good, but not so much with profiting from evil.

Hard to understand how Australian farms are a good investment against global warming. In a hot, dry climate, \they will only get hotter and drier.

Good posting, Cal, thanks. But the article is a bit of a mishmash of sinister, or actually damaging, contributions by corporations and products or inventions that actually help to reduce carbon emission. The latter can profit all they want in my opinion.
