New Jersey Senate candidate Steve Lonegan (R) told MSNBC's Steve Kornacki on Saturday that single mothers don't need to rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, commonly known as food stamps, because his mother raised a family by working har

It's becoming increasingly obvious, to me at least, that these folks really rather critize others than win elections..but hey....when it comes to the reichwings haters/radicals/racist that's a good thing.

Steve Lonegan (R) has not said anything positive since he came to national light with his outrageous statements. I'm not sure, but, I'm beginning to wonder if the the right-wing nuts don't elect on who can say the most stupid and hateful things at the time.
It is obvious that they have no respect or use for the people in this country. They have no respect for this country, every time we turn around their are doing something detramental to our country as well as it's constituents. Sorry I'm ranting. noted & shared.

Single parents must do 2 jobs to support children ~ Both male and female ~ Additionally, they need to pay for child care. They need help to do so.

How about Mr. Candidate, creating an economic environment that will create jobs and benefit your constituents? I guess that's too much of a struggle for you. What if they held an election and nobody voted?

Many seniors need the programs as well as many military families who are struggling to make ends meet...but this is how these A-Holes support the troops and our citizens in general..............shameful at best me thinketh.

Yeah, my widowed mother raised me and supported her mother, but there were jobs then. And she had to fight for every well-deserved raise and promotion she got, because "men have to support familes." Her response to one supervisor on that one was "What am I, chopped liver?"
Theodore, an election with nobody voting is exactly what they want. That's why all the bills to restrict voting rights.
GGma Sheila, besides your comment, I love your new avatar :-)

Hell yeah, bitch, starve, the kid came out, now we don't give a damn if he starves.

See, I could be a Republican politician.

Oh yeah. Works for me. Maybe they can find a job at a fast food restaurant that lets them take home enough food to feed their children. Or, maybe they can find three or four jobs that will pay enough to eat. Of course, living in the real world, that would mean they would still need enough to pay child care, along with all the other bills that accrue while they're out working 24/7. These guys have never missed a meal and have no idea what they're talking about. Maybe Chris Christie is supporting this idiot because he's been failing to live up the the Republican standard of leaving everyone except the rich behind. "Overinflated bozos": I like that, GGma Sheila D. We can start calling all of them that.

If the Republican party had not helped corporations leave America and take jobs with them. They could not wait to open up China to free enterprise and capitalism.

If the minimum wage provided a living for people who have no alternative, I'm sure that people would rather not have to use SNAP. What, go out and work l6 hours a day to feed the kids, but who is there for the kids? These rich, arrogant, heartless people have no clue.

Yes, people really should work rather than rely on the dole. However, in these tough economic times, many people have no choice but to request assistance. It's easy to tell single moms "Go find Work!" But how are they supposed to get work and making a living wage when a) so many jobs are going overseas to sweatshops, b) for-profit jails are using prisoners for slave labor, c) businesses are hiring people part-time or taking them on as contractors so they don't have to provide benefits, and d) minimum-wage earners are having to take their pay in the form of evil debit cards that sting them for every use?

These nauseating dorks need to become jobless and homeless so they can get an idea of how it is for far too many these days.

Really?!?....WHAT FREAKING JOBS Should they get???? I need for that A**HAT to be a little clearer. Tell me where all these single mothers should go to get these wonderful jobs. While he is at it maybe he can also tell them where they can put their children while they are at these jobs!

It's ironic that the Steve Lonegan's of the GOP are also the ones who preach that women should be forced to have babies whether they can take care of them or not.

Single mothers are stuck between a rock and a hard place especially in this "new economy" (see...recession). What jobs are out there for women that have only a HS Diploma? How about we start by providing effective Job Training and Education to women? How about some kind of centralized day care so that these women can go to school or work??

It is hard to go to a job that pays $8.00 an hour when you have to pay $150 a week for daycare!!

Mr. Lonegan just proved that he has NO CLUE about women or children and their needs.

Steve Lonegan,, and ANYONE touting the value of "Free Market Policies" &/or less government, is spouting conservative rhetoric that has helped destroy the middle and working classes!
This is a message of greed and "I got mine, screw you!"
If you read Richard Wolff's "Capitalism Hits the Fan," (he is an economist who sees outside the blinders) you will see that the free market economy arguement is bullshit.
This is part of the myth that the Repugs will create jobs, in the free market. Well, Walmart creates jobs, but they are virtually on the level of slave labor.
Aside from his apparent connection to the TOXIC brothers, he is, of course, supported by Chris Christie, who is a loudmouthed snake in the grass: Moderate, my ass!

Hey Cathe, rant on!
Theodore, i love the origin of your idea "What if they gave a war, and nobody came?" But, yes, the Repugs would give their grandmothers' eye teeth for a low turnout!

And, you know, this is so typical, of conservative mindlessness: Create a situation that is economically, educationally or socially oppressive, and then blame the victims thereof for their inability to thrive.

There was a comedy group, in the '60' and '70', called, I believe, the Firestone Theater. they put out several LP albums, very funny; like an American forerunner to Monty Python. One of their skits involved a U.S. Calvary officer telling an Indian tribe, after re-settling them once again, that he was impressed with "...your ability to make it in whatever God-forsaken place we put you!

Damn those SOB Pluotocrat supporting bastards!
Okay, Cathe, now I'm done ranting...this time.

The Firestone Show was part of my childhood b&w TV watching, with classical music, if anyone cares.

Anyone who has single-parented and can't find a job or who is sick themselves or has ot support system of extended family, or has special needs chldren will be sickened and angry by this outrgeous statement! I just can't believe that any man in this day and age could say anything so bigoted and unreasonable... It is terribly demeaning to have to ask for food stamps...Some are FORCED to do so or their children would starve. As Alice says.. they are already doing two jobs of being both mother and father to the children. Single parents are not always single by CHOICE! I am amazed that no-one hasn't thrown eggs at that silly fat face of his! Most likely becaue they can't affort do waste good food!!

It's foolish to make blanket statements about any group. Some who are receiving those benefits do so through no fault of their own. Some, of course, are capable and have the opportunity to work but choose not to. But the honest ones hardly should be demonized due to the actions of the dishonest ones.

I have written this several times, and I will do so again. Food Stamps is one of the biggest drains on this economy because it is unregulated. The people who deserve them of course should receive them.
Did you know that an underage girl who has a baby is also entitled to stamps, as well as Medicade? Why? ask the members of the Carter administration that put this into effect.
For 8 years, I taught high school in the 4th largest urban district in NJ. In these areas, vendors would accept stamps for anything and record it as "orange juice", or "milk". When in fact it was being used by the kids to buy soda, and packaged cakes. The adults would use it to buy liquor, lottery tickets. We are talking about $300. plus a MONTH!.
This man is not entirely wrong if you only knew how mismanaged this program is.

First off Allan...S.N.A.P. programs no longer use paper coupons for purchases. It's all by debt cards nows. So selling them is possible but using them for things other than intended..not so much so. Thus most of your 'observation' is out of date and just wrong.

So what was the problem wiith the girl receiving 'food assitence' and basic healthcare coverage' for her baby...she was after all a single mom regardless of her age and her baby still needed food as well as she and so forth.
.
The man is still a jerk face recihwingnut.idiot/moron dirt bag ,but then the Republican far-right love having those type of people represent them....being they are cut from the same cloth I suppose.............

..that should have been 'debit cards' ........for which many are ask for their id's as well as a password in order to use...so not easy to abuse the system as it once was...in the olden days..so to say. There are also ..regular and extensive, follow ups in place for those receiving assistance.

Personally I am more concerned with the scams being pull off by Congress and record profit making Corportes receiving 'welfare/entitlements/''subsdies''' than I am those for individual families and or individuals period. Corporates rip the tax payers off for billions and into the trillions, as we saw under the Bush administration. There is where the 'tax dollar' and 'wefare' concerns should be focused.................IMO.

Jae A. (322)
Monday August 26, 2013, 2:16 pm
It is also a hassle to sell a S.N.A.P. debit card as one would have to go with the person selling it to use it for a purchase... in order to know how much is on 'that particular card' before paying someone for 'a card' ...There is no other way to tell what amount is on the card without doing so.

All that being said..I am personally still more concerned about the welfare give aways to Corportes than the small percentage of individual/family card abuses that occure annually. Small taters compared to that handed out to already profitable Corporates monthly !!!

Lonegan is an asshole! I saw footage of Christie endorsing Lonegan and the look on his face was rather like the look when you realise you have dog shit all over your shoe. I am no Christie fan, for that matter I am no Republicanus/Teabagger fan.

Lonegan knows not of which he speaks. I sure hope Corey Booker wins the election.
