Oxfam reports that many countries are far short of their expected humanitarian contributions for Syria, with Russia and Qatar providing only 3 percent.

We are spending a fortune in humanitarian aid instead of taking care of the problem. Does this make sense?

That's why I always against war--just senseless killing all forms of life human and animals. Assad is a bad man as he kills his own people, but Russia and Qatar are worse than him as they kill more. how about you the US, do you want to join them kill innocence people?

Thanks Cal for a good post again.

sad.....and I hate to politicize it, but how many US politicians (and voters) support more money to the military, but less foreign or domestic aid to those in need while at the same time preaching that they are "Good Christians"......I would start a list of just politicians, but soon run out of comment space.....

Don't want Foreign Aid going to dictators, drug dealers, shoe fetish women, abusers and rapists, or to any military actions. ALL of our aid should be humanitarian, none military...Wishful thinking.

There has always been more profit in war than aiding starving/homeless people

Fair share? It's not like they said they would contribute money, the two sides probably consider what they are doing as a greater good. Maybe Oxfam's expectation are a bit high (and I am not certain have groups say how much money they need is really a way to determine how much money is required), but feel that is you have committed money, then you should deliver it.

Isn't that the way of it over there or at home in the USA. Always money for weapons of war but little to help the returning Veterans or their families.

This is a norm: poor, homeless but always a constant supply of arms to both the ruling parties & rebels. War is profitable to the very same nations that try to make "peace". These are the same countries that sell weapons to the ALL parties. If there is no conflict then no sales & thus no profit! Supplying arms huge profits, charity for the good of mankind, this went out the window eons ago! Sad world.

That's terrible! The money needs to go to the refugees. They are more important. Thanks for sharing, Cal.

Isn't this the way it is, also, in America.

Plenty of room for the negative.

Little room for the positive.
