Iwate, Japan, is once again poised to commence the world's largest cetacean slaughter, which dwarfs the much more famous one in Taiji.

Good post. Thanks. I don't understand why this story and so many others aren't reported by corporate "mainstream" media. It seems as if, ever since the Fairness Doctrine was abandoned, that corporate media only report stories that are in line with the corporate party line. Anything else is barred access. It's good the that internet provides so many alternative sources of information.

Again it's Japan slaughtering all the sealife it can possibly find. Wonder what they'll do now that they've poisoned the oceans with radioactivity, possibly killing all the sealife - certainlly rendering them inedible??

Horrific - the title says it all so I did not read the article - way too sad for me and would just fuel my anger even further! I am pretty sure you all know how I feel about these savage nations!

C'est toujours le même visage du Japon et de sa vision toute particulière de l'ordre des choses. Tout à fait immoral !!!

The Japanese do know that porpoise meat is high in mercury? The porpoise could have the last laugh after all.

There is an article about this on the Huffington Post, UK edition. I left a post asking why it was not on the Japan edition. Just found out it's not on the US edition either. Hmmmm! This is just sickening. Don't forget Japan is supposed to hold the Olympics in 2020 (I think). How can they invite the world to Japan while they are killing, murdering, dolphins and whales?

Oh Cal, I commented on the article, but I mistakenly thought it was about Taji dolphin killing. Then I saw this same story on another website and also posted it on newly submitted. DUH! Just call it a senior moment!!! lol Both are terrible. I haven't seen any petitions about Iwate yet, but looking.

You know why mainstream media doesn't report on animal welfare and abuse cases? Because they're too busy reporting on the Kardashians and other shit that doesn't matter. Imagine how big a difference there would be in relation to building the public knowledge base about environmental and animal welfare issues if CNN and Anderson Cooper had a weekly focus report.....things would change SO DRAMATICALLY. They don't give a damn. It's a glaring PURPOSEFUL oversight---and a bloody shame.

I agree with Michelle!
The msm ignore most of what really counts in the world, and NOT for good reason.
They just don't give a FU*K!

So sad. Let's hope that world-wide pressure produces results...Sea Shepherd’s West predicts that Taiji could prove to be a tipping point. “It’s synonymous with the brutal greed that exists in the Japanese government,” he says. “If Japan were to end the Taiji slaughter, there’s a good chance that other such slaughters in Japan would end.”
