Well, they would. But then again, Australia was told that the "punitive" mining tax wouldn't hurt the economy and then came the downturn in the mining boom. But really, all I have to say is congratulations to all Australians who finally came to their senses.

Mr Abbott will not win everything we wont let him.The Climate Commission and the Climate Change Authority, was disbanded. Guess what it is still alive it will be public funded all staff he stacked are staying on in a voluntary capacity. They decided to do this when a young boy from Western Australia sent them $15 dollars because he cared. The fund is starting to grow. I don't know the full news yet just a little bit on radio.

Yes, the Climate Commission might have lost the new right-wing government's support. But thankfully the people that still want to know and understand climate change from an independent source can still have that opportunity. Many caring people have contributed already.

video link here to the story... www.abc.net.au/news/2013-09-24/tim-flannery-launches-independent-climate-council/4977292

But, because they are no longer funded by government (about 5.2 million over the last 4 years) they will need public donations to continue their work.

Tim Flannery is one of the highest profile environmentalists in Australia. You can check out his profile on wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Flannery which of course has links to more information so that you can learn about him.

The new website (http://climatecouncil.org/) is not up yet but they will be working on it, I'm sure.
If you would like to applaud Tim and his fellow colleagues and even get involved with a contribution to this worthy cause then please do so. You might have to dig around to find a contact for Tim but it will be worth it, I'm sure for all of you that want to keep an independent Climate information center going.

The http://climatecommission.gov.au/ site is still up and there are many reports you can still access if you want. Just how long it will be kept up I don't know.

So, if you would like to help then great stuff.

http://www.claxtonspeakers.com.au/speakers_profile/752 has a contact button for Tim through his speaking activities.

If I can find a more direct way that you can help I will post it here. So please keep checking.

And to all The Aussie Care2 community members that do care, do your best and keep this alive. ;o)

So sympathetic to Oz. As we found out, it doesn't take long for one idiot to undo decades of hard work,.
