Whatever deal emerges from overnight negotiations in the Senate, Republican lawmakers said they weren't sure it could pass quickly enough in their chamber to avert a default -- or that it would ever see the light of day in the House.

Ronnie Reagan triples the deficit & gets 18 clean debt ceiling increases who is the GOP #1 hero.
President Obama cuts our deficit in half and gets compared to Hitler and worse...
Republicans--Teaparty attempt to use the government shutdown and the threat of a default on our national debt to exact concessions from the Democrats is nothing less than hostage-taking. As if cutting food stamp money from children and seniors the largest number of recipients wasn't bad enough ....any attempt to use this crisis, which the teaparty created, to cut Social Security, Medicaid or Medicare benefits would only add another shameful layer to already cruel and disgusting behavior towards keeping Americans from getting healthcare.

Let's see how well they do in the midterms after all those retirees--the largest voting bloc in the country--do not get their Medicare or Social Security if the government does go into default.

I believe that this is the civil war, by the southern racists. They fully plan to let us default.

We should write and demand a refund from our taxes because of the government shutdown. Since we are now at 1/2 of a month or 4% of the year, we should demand a 4% refund from the government for the lack of government. Personnly, I think the refund should come from paychecks of Congress.

I've come to believe the GOP plan, is to shut down the government. (we'll know in about 4 hours). The GOP is asking for a break after tonight's vote. If that happens many people will not have a happy holiday season this year.

Noted, thank you!

Please call, visit or write the people who put this shutdown in place. We need to convince the bad little bullies to play nice, and to let the nice folks know we have their back and they've done well with their decisions.

Lots of people are without pay, going hungry, at risk due to lack of health regulations, etc. while they just sit back and let the paychecks roll in.

Remind these elected officials who got them their jobs and that we are real people, not numbers.
