Good luck to the farmers as Justice Clarence Thomas used to be counsel for Monsanto. He should recuse himself from ruling on this case in any way shape or form, but he won't. Our Judicial Branch has become totally political and that was definitely something the founding fathers and the Constitution sought to keep from happening.

I found this paragraph interesting: "On June 10, a three-judge panel at the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington, D.C., issued a bizarre ruling that plaintiffs are not entitled to bring a lawsuit to protect themselves from Monsanto’s transgenic seed patents..."

This more than likely happened because congress was blocking and refusing to confirm any of Obama's judicial nominations for the DC Circuit. More than likely the judges left on the court in June were of a more conservative mind. Federal judicial nominations and confirmations are one of the most important aspects of government. These judges are appointed for life and if you get bad ones (and that's pretty much all we get these days), they can ruin the country touts suite; and it can take a generation to straighten things out. Unfortunately, with the way things are going these days, we may not have a generation left.

Thanks for the article, Cal. This problem has been ongoing since Monsanto started experimenting with their poisons. We need to stop this once and for all. Europeans have the right idea; let's hope they have no reason to change their minds.

I agree with you Susan, I wish the other two branches would crack down on the judiciary and their completely non impartial experience in these cases. We need to stand up to corporations like Monsanto who care absolutely NOTHING for the harm they are doing to our planet.

Great share again Cal, thanks!

After reading the book I just did and realizing how it fits so well into American politics today the out come on this is very doughtful from a bought and paid for Supreme Court! Our politicians all the way to every court in the land are a bought and paid for experience IMO!!

Thanks Cal for the link to the article. Kudos to the farmers and their allies and thumbs down to the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington for their action. We can hope that the SCOTUS will take the case. Read and hopefully noted.

Monsanto have tried to make it illegal to grow heritage crops.
Now the boot is on the other foot. Good on the farmers! The best defense with people like Monsanto is attack.
