Racism and anti-gay bigotry are unacceptable. The religious right doesn't speak for most Christians or most viewers

Really? Why do anything to keep feeding this jerk's incredible ego? This smells like a PR/political stunt and it's working well for those who support bigotry. If some of his statements are to be believed, I would sooner have him removed from the public for his statements about marriage to 16 year old girls.

It's his first amendment rights to express his views. It's your guaranteed right to disagree with him.
Do you know what the best thing is you can do to combat this type of opinion? Change the channel and don't watch it. I wouldn't have known anything about this guy if Care2 hadn't pumped up the issue.

Why encourage and support and dumb down the already willfully ignorant and bigoted? Why not provide programming instead that exposes the devastating effects of the animals as Dairy, Meat & Skin industries, the pollution, the cides, GMOs, Oil + Corexit, Trash, Electronic wastes, +++ as well as the R&D going into GREENING up Planet Earth, the citizens of the world who are taking actions to restore the pristine conditions, the people who meditate and perform ceremony to balance out the negation of spirit, and more? We can enhance awareness in place of applauding and making rich the most destructive among us!

Television is all about ratings. If people quit watching the show, then it will die a swift death. Simple as that. Boycott the show, and if you really want to affect revenue, write every advertiser that supports it to make sure they know you WON'T be supporting them. You can't change a mind that is closed. Not worth the expenditure of energy. God deals with people who are wrong in His own way.

Well I guess it doesn't matter any more A&E backed down and GLADD got put in its place NOT every one cares about this group and a lot of people are so sick of these groups forcing every one to believe that their life style is the right way, well THANK GOD for Phil and I know I am going to be the bad guy here but so be it we are SICK to death with hearing about GLADD and I don't care if you are gay but I do care when I am told that I have to be OK with it and that I have to teach my kids that it is OK and if I don't agree than I am a racist and a bad person. You want from us what you will NOT give to us. So if you are gay and you have a problem with the way I look at your life style maybe I'm not the problem maybe you are having problem and you might need to seek out help. God Bless everyone but THANK GOD FOR PHIL

Of course he has the right to say anything he wants and most likely it'll cost A&E the viewership of all 3 gay fans of the show and both of the African American ones.

He doesn't however have the right to have a reality show to air his moronic views.

I never watch this show. Why should I? I love ducks and have had them since I was a child. Now I feed the wild ducks that come to our pond. Why should I endorse someone with the opposite views. This still comes under the 1st Amendment but that also means that I don't have to watch it. What a waste of time.

Sheesh Kabob! ducks and whatever. I can be happy I don't watch the most redneck garbage in the universe. The American Taliban are dangerous to the American people. If you believe the verbage, you believe in stupidity and stupidification of this nation. If you support this bum, you support stupidifcation. It has nothing to do with your religion or your political beliefs. If you are stupidified, get it figured out - think, and look at the facts. Peace, love and flowers from someone normal.

I find all these shows and their staffs gross and trashy as well as frequently bigoted. This said, they have the right to speak. I wish they didn't and I will not watch nor buy trash from trash. Sadly, enough people who watch and behave in these ways must vibrate on this level or these shows wouldn't last.

I believe everyone has the right to freedom of speech. The interviewer should not have asked questions if he knew he wouldn't like the answers. Bigotry is probably all of TV but no one openly speaks out.

I have never watched or had the desire to watch this show. Only because the subject of the show doesn't interest me. One thing I can say for the show is that there is a major lack of swearing, which is nice for a change.

He has the right to say anything he wants about anybody he wants. So unless he is threatening someone or talking about causing mayhem, he is within his rights. You don't have to like it, but he can say it. If it bothers you that much, turn off the show. If it bothers you enough to turn off the show, then you need to shut the tv because there is so much of this on it that you shouldn't be watching at all. Glaad and the rest of them can say what they want, and they do so because of the same 1st Amendment. They aren't stopped from this anymore than anyone else.

If you want to complain, do so. But unless you are pure and live in a glass house, stop throwing stones.

Signed with a good comment saying that his views have nothing to do with religion and/or being persecuted for his religious beliefs since religions seek to promote & nurture harmony in society and brotherhood between people of all faiths, whereas this guy's rhetoric is simply right-wing propaganda that works to create divisiveness, exclusion, bigotry & hatred by spreading antiquated, ill-informed and demeaning generalizations about two important American minorities.

I am not acquainted with this program as French TV executives have so far resisted the urge to import this garbage onto our screens.

It's all about the bottom line for profits and if we don't watch the show, don't buy the products being advertised our actions will speak louder than the bigots and religious fanatics who support his very NON Christian verbiage.

He has his freedom of speach just like the rest, one thing I have noticed is the if a white straight christian speaks his feeling he is a bigot or a raceist, but it is olright for gays and other ethnic races or religions speaks there peace it is alright. I have friends who are gay and of ther ethnic backgrounds and Plils commit did not bother them, they said the same thing as a lot people he has a right to voice his opinon. I thought this was what america was all about freedom to speak,. Oh I forgot we are living in a age of NSA where rights are taken away.

I have found that so-called Christians are bigoted. At least, if the subject comes up among certain Christians I know, I have had to tell them a thing or two, and I usually finish with this: Would Christ approve of your bigotry or prejudice? No, he wouldn't, so why do you say you are following him, yet have this poisonous attitude? Plenty awry here. A human being is a human being, no matter whether he or she is gay or of another race. And they should be treated like human beings. So many people are out of it and don't even know it. Or if they do, they don't let it bother them.

To Barbara V.: Many so-called Christians are the most un-Christian people I know.
They neither are aware of what it means to be Christian or simply don't care.
To be perfectly honest, this goes for most religious zealots, no matter the faith. They think and act superior to anyone who doesn't profess their same belief.

Bigotry wouldn't exist on TV if there weren't dysfunctional people watching these programs.
Their mantra is 'hate', along with 'vengeance', and the downfall of any educated society.

This article and petition certainly riled up people. The show is foolish, the man seems to be a fool. A rich fool but a fool. I would much prefer that TV programing was done with writers and actors. None of these shows are Reality TV, all are fictionalized, just poorly fictionalized. I don't care about the daily life and times of people that hunt ducks, kill alligators, have children in beauty pageants or sing for an empty reward. I'm growing weary of cop shows and fake drama, but that is still better than watching shows that the network believes are at or below our comprehension level.

The problem is always the zealots, the extremists & the fundamentalists who poison the original message of any of the religions people belong to.

But in Christianity, the Christian 'Taliban' aren't the only problem. Even before the rise of the 'religious right' & the Evangelicals, there was a big gap between the original message of Christ & what so-called & self-called Christians were actually thinking & doing. After all, it must have been a very long time ago that Mahatma Gandhi said, "I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ. The materialism of affluent Christian countries appears to contradict the claims of Jesus Christ that says it's not possible to worship both Mammon and God at the same time." (apparently it's disputed whether Gandhi actually did make this statement, although the quote is often attributed to him; but I like it very much, & if Gandhi's fame for challenging colonial power & oppression with non-violence, for injecting love into politics, and for personal integrity have popularized it, so much the better!)

There's a diary entry which was posted on The Daily Kos just the other day, 27 December, that addresses this very issue - Why Do Fundy Christians Love the Rich and Hate the Poor? - and starts off, "My mother is a fundamentalist Christian. I would consider myself a believer in the teachings of Jesus, but I refuse to call myself a Christian. The reason I refuse to call myself a Christian is because of how many who call themselves as such have distorted what Jesus taught. .../..." ...

... and, then, presents the issue to be dealt with, "There are two issues that drive my mother and the rest of the right wing Christians. The issues are abortion and homosexuality. .../...

When I was in college I became an atheist. After a rough patch, I grabbed a Bible and read the Gospels very thoroughly. They gave me great comfort and helped me through that period. Reading the Gospels re-enforced my Progressive beliefs. I found directives about helping the poor, and loving our fellow humans, no matter who they are or where they came from. Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see a thing in the Gospels about abortion or homosexuality. .../... "
