Governments around the world are trying to "repatriate" objects that they say were illegally acquired by colonialists and are sitting in museums in other countries..

All of these treasures should be returned to where they came from.

Stolen Hopi masks went up for auction x2 recently in France. Fortunately, there were a handful of concerned world citizens who purchased them just to return a portion of them to their rightful home. I agree that all stolen objects must be returned to their original owners, descendents, countries of origin, as well as much of the lands taken from indigenous tribes and animals.

If it had not been for the colonialists many of these treasures would have disappeared all together or sitting in private collections and unseen by the public. Some of these countries are not capable of looking after them and want them returned under a form of misguided nationalism.

Get them back to the people the artifacts belong too. Colonialism has nothing to do with ripping off a nations belongings. We need to be assured the return of artifacts will be safe and stored in museums with security.

Yes. The West, in it's arrogance, stole from every country we invaded. It is time to give it all back.

Thanks Cal for the link to the very interesting article. Great read in that it gave both sides of the issue. Read and noted.

The treasures belong to the countries they came from and they should be returned to those countries.

This isue of the rights of antiquities surfaces at least once a year. If there ever was a sticky mess, this would be it. Egypt, as the video shows is simply an unstable ground to bring these artifacts back.
As far as the Greeks and the British, this has been an ongoing dispute for decades. For the British, the marbles are a great attraction to the museum;to the Greeks, it's time to hand over Turkish theft.
Personally, I would like to see the pediment of the Partheon reunited with Greece.
