Dubbed the new 'cave dwellers' of Beijing, these people were recently found living in the city's underground water system. Society's lowest rung raises hard questions about modern China.

Thanks Cal for providing the link to the extremely interesting article. I don't see the Chinese Government stepping up to the plate on this. What a shame to neglect these people. Read and noted.

Sad that most governments don't give a damn about what's happening to the people they represent. They just give a hoot about their paychecks and benefits. Like what Ellen said, they will get theirs. Sorry it isn't always sooner.
Thanks Cal

Heartbreaking. We are all the same, and all people want to have their own little cozy nests, a job, and enough to eat. Ellen G. says it all.

China isn't the only country ignoring the poor and homeless.India is far worse ,people are born ,live and die homeless in the streets.Show me one city in the world that doesn't have its homeless hungry and poor.Walk round Sydney late at night and see the homeless sleeping in doorways, parks, railway stations ,anywhere they can find shelter. It is an indictment of our affluent societies that this situation exists," To each according to his needs "certainly isn't practiced.Time it was.

What a terrible story. Sadly, there seems to be no answer from the government.

Thanks Cal; one of those sad but true stories which are common in many places. I live in Sydney, and agree with Boods.

Very sad.

One can tell a lot about a country with how it looks after its poor.
