Signed - Right now there is a booming cash cow in oil for North Dakota, the price for that boom has been rail accidents causing massive explosions and spills. The head of this department in ND claims that oil can not explode. We have so many forms of alternative fuel and we still allow the OIL and GAS industry to dominate the scene no matter how dangerous to life. In case you had not heard, the fine for the company responsible is zero, not one dollar in fines.

At the very least he shouldn't call this a safe thing.

But in fact the ways of transporting all this oil should be revised, or just stopped.

There are alternatives.

Thanks for posting Cal!

Mann-made global warming is a political hoax. The temperatures in North and South Dakota more than prove that the greenhouse gas effect does not exist. CO2 is needed to grow plants.
NZCLIMATE TRUTH NEWSLETTER NO 312 JUNE 4th 2013
CARBON DIOXIDE
There are two gases in the earth’s atmosphere without which living organisms could not exist.
Oxygen is the most abundant, 21% by volume, but without carbon dioxide, which is currently only about 0.04 percent (400ppm) by volume, both the oxygen itself, and most living organisms on earth could not exist at all.
This happened when the more complex of the two living cells (called “eukaryote”) evolved a process called a “chloroplast” some 3 billion years ago, which utilized a chemical calledchlorophyll to capture energy from the sun and convert carbon dioxide and nitrogen into a range of chemical compounds and structural polymers by photosynthesis. These substances provide all the food required by the organisms not endowed with a chloroplast organelle in their cells.
This process also produced all of the oxygen in the atmosphere
The relative proportions of carbon dioxide and oxygen have varied very widely over the geological ages.

It will be seen that there is no correlation whatsoever between carbon dioxide concentration and the temperature at the earth’s surface.
During the latter part of the Carboniferous, the Permian and the first half of the Triassic period, 250-320 million years ago, carbon dioxide concentration was half what it is today but the temperature was 10ºC higher than today . Oxygen in the atmosphere fluctuated from 15 to 35% during this period
From the Cretaceous to the Eocene 35 to 100 million years ago, a high temperature went with declining carbon dioxide.
The theory that carbon dioxide concentration is related to the temperature of the earth’s surface is therefore wrong

"Underground pipes are safer"? Tell that to the residents of Mayflower, Arkansas. Tell that to the residents along the Yellowstone River.

I knew as soon as I saw this story break SOMEone would use it to push pipelines. Which do NOT get regular maintenance. At least railroads get SOME.

Bert Klein, I will ask you something that my mother used to ask me-are you for real? What land do you climate change deniers live? You think that polar bears drowning is natural? There are hundreds of species of animals-sadly we are not one of them-that are endangered. Although animals have gone extinct before the number is now huge. The air is dirty, storms are more catastrophic and frequent to name only a few of the problems and you say there is no correlation? People like you prove me right. Human intelligence is an oxymoron. IT is not that we are the most intelligent species, it is that there is no one to argue with us about it. This transporting of oil has obviously caused catastrophes before so what makes anyone think (you for one Bert) that it won;t happen again. Aside front he whole climate change thing oil makes things dirt. It fouls the water and the land that we and all the other animals walk on. This is just another big company that gets privileges like all other fossil fuel companies. I'm sick or it.

Last month it was it was the huge spill in North Dakota. They say it's no longer a matter of "IF" but "WHEN" and the entire town nearby had to be evacuated for safety. Oil is safe because it doesn't ignite so no worries-right?
Yes.Except if you look at that picture, what do you see? I SEE OIL ON FIRE. No one died in this case. What happens next time? Pipe lines were hooked up-this also happened in North Dakota. They were LEGAL. What happened? They were taken to court. It seems that ILLEGALLY CONNECTING LINES IS SUBJECT TO A DAILY FINE OF $10,000 FOR EACH DAY.AND THEY HAD USED THESE ILLEGAL LINES FOR 2 YEARS! What would happen to you or me? I'm sure we'd never be heard from again. My husband and I were audited for back taxes when he was unemployed and on unemployment and had to pay $50 a month for 3 years with % for using Turbo tax. But these Oil People? They shook hand and sent them away. No FINE. (Probably kissed them and took them to dinner..) No wonder we're screwed.COLLECT the fine and give it to the people of ND you numb skulls.

Another example of our corrupt and twisted society !! All this doesn't matter because when the spreading radioactive contamination finally gets here (estimated within 5 years) there will be no one alive, or well enough, to protest..

Like so many things at The Petition Site this is a statement of fact, not a petition.
The statement is true enough. This Bakken oil is dangerous stuff! We are fighting for our lives here in the PNW, trying to keep Crude By Rail out of here. As of today crude oil cannot be exported. Update at 11 o'clock.
The whole idea of allowing the drilling was for the USA to become energy independent. Ha!

It so stupid this oil busniss and the tar sand pipe, they keep drilling and destroying environment, the oil isn't getting cheaper nor cleaner, we need to focus on clean sources, we have demaged the planet already to long and to much, Governments must stop giving money (subsidie) the wrong energie deliverers, we have for free water, wind and sun let start using our natural clean sources!
