The Western Australian government has recently set in motion a cruel and highly impractical plan to cull sharks over three meters long, the catalyst being six fatal attacks in the past three years.

Predators (sharks) are the most misunderstood, of the animal kingdom & is the most vilified, next 2 wolves, a victim of overkill, by man.

Not too many people from Western Australia will sign this. They're tired of people placing more importance on these mindless kiling machines than they do on human life.If you have ever seen a human body with limbs torn off by one of these bloody creatures you would understand why. I saw one when I was a boy and it is a sight I will never forget. The young boy was swimming in water thatwas considered to be safe..He died from shock and blood loss.

Without bees, earthworms and sharks, human life on earth will cease to exist within 4 years. Go and watch "Sharkwater" and learn why WE NEED SHARKS. The earth doesn't need people. S&N

Signed & noted, thanks Cal for posting.

Any death by predation is a gruesome sight to behold, but does that mean we should try to cull predators in their natural environment? Culling is usually inefficient and impractical. The focus on reducing human losses to predators should probably be on education, safety and human caution; such actions are likely less expensive and possibly more effective.

Irresponsible wildlife film makers have a lot to do with the bad reputation of some animals they promote films such as Killer Sharks and even Killer Tuna. It has always been the same throughout history give a dog a bad name and it will stick.

"The marine environment already faces substantial danger from pollution and climate change. To target an apex predator—many species of which are endangered—in such an uncontrolled and misguided action is essentially unethical and irresponsible."
