If there are no gay people in Sochi, why are the city's gay clubs still in business?

Another case of a stupid politician talking out of his butt. This put me in mind of the South African President when he refused to believe that aids existed in his country. He held to this belief until overwhelming evidence proved that South Africa was the aids capital of the world. This idiot will through time face the same humiliation as the south African President.

Thanks Cal for the link to the article by Ms. Mackintosh. Mayor Pakhomov needs to open his eyes and look around! Read and laughingly noted.

I love all my gay friends. They are people with intelligence just like the rest of us. And they know what they want and the limitations of that choice.

If the subject wasn't such a serious one we might conclude he's got a certain sense of humor.

But I guess he's just another Russian official.

Thanks for the laughter Cal!

The human capacity for self-delusion never fails, does it?

Of course, we can't see the gun pointed to his head.....

Sounds a lot like one of those North Korean puppets telling us how happy all their people are.

People see what they want to see and hear what they want to hear. Sad.

I have trouble believing that people who are in denial that deep will ever accept that they were wrong. They go to their grave convinced they were right and everyone else wrong. It's one of the reasons many Catholics find the theology of purgatory comforting, myself included. (It's not my job to set them straight against impossible odds - it will be taken care of.)

ROFLMAO! :-)))

Does the phrase "head in the sand" ring true here? Or perhaps I should rephrase that to "head up his arse"? What a troglodyte!

I hope that Andrei Tenichev and all the patrons of his club, Mayak, remain safe, unharmed and unmolested before, during and long after the Sochi Olympics.
