Eco-Advocates Deeply Unhappy With Keystone XL Pipeline Review. Rep. Grijalva Calls It a 'Sham'

The final decision on the pipeline must await an interagency review, evaluation of public comments and President Obama's consideration of whatever recommendation the State Department sends him

It's more than a Sham. When the Southern leg oped on January 22, I knew which way this was going. I wish more environmental groups had put focus on what breaks and leaks could do to water, watershed and land. The pipeline itself does not create carbon problems. Extracting Tar sands, refining Tar Sands, shipping them to China and China burning them creates big carbon problems. Pipelines break. That creates huge water and land problems.

Hello, State Department. I see the lights are on but it doesn't look like anyone is home. John Kerry, where are you?

Did anyone not see the news report this past week about all the leaks in the current pipelines that is moving this stuff? And how it mentioned that the supposedly superb leak detection system only identified 19% of them?

Poses no threat to the environment? Hello?

When the pipeline was first discussed, why wasn't the State Dept. in on the environmental impact this could cause? The EPA? Canadian environmental agencies? What is this nonsense about Obama getting :recommendations from the State Dept."? He should have had them nearly 2 years ago.
A "supplemental impact statement"? What the heck is this? P.S. information on what this pipeline can potentially do to the US and or Canada?
The administration is pathetic in its lies and at best half truths.

Noted. Hats off to Rep. Grijalva....he's in the district next-door to mine. When that southern "leg" became functional several days ago, I saw the writing on the wall. I really hate how these things are hidden from the public. Promises are broken, lies are thrown around....people are paid off. We need a massive "green energy" movement that makes Occupy look like a small gathering. A Green revolution.

This is not surprising public officials are very adept at sidelining public opinion to get their own way a future accident accident awaits down the line.
