No, we must keep fighting against this outrage. I sign every petition I can against fracking, tar sands, etc. These jerks won't stop until they have ruined the entire planet.

Oh, this is terrible! Bit by bit, our beautiful America is being destroyed by greed. I hope the people don't allow this.

It may well be the case that the motivation behind this is because of the resistance to the Keystone XL pipeline. Which shows that resistance to Keystone may be working and it's time to redouble efforts against that and any other pipelines...

It just means that the State Department was right when it said it would get done with or without US involvement.

West Central StarTribune, Friday, March 7, 2014...Headline: By rail or pipeline, oil safety fights on.

Jim Spencer, - On Capitol Hill, senators were told that none of the thousands of inadequately protected rail cars as bee removed from service. Long article here.

David Shaffer, - Enbridge Energy says replacing the 46-yr-old crude oil pepeline across Minnesota will boost safety. But opponents don't see it that way.
Very interesting article here - fears that Enbridge will "update" its aging, leaking, unsafe pipelone only to use it for tar sands oil. I am really behind on doing background on MN pipelines.

Never knew we already had an Enbridge pipeline in northern MN...across some of our freshwater lakes and streams. MN, the Land of 10,000 Lakes, is being polluted already by Enbridge. " elevated risk of rupturing...1968-era pipeline carries oil from Canada through northern MN to Superior, WI...a 2002 rupture in Cohasset, MN..." Big time problems could sill happen before the replacement, by 2017. MN350 and the Sierra Club are already gearing up to fight the replacement pipeline.

MN also has natural gas pipelines, buried all over - did know about them. Natural Gas Council has been sending out brochures for last two years on how to spot gas leaks from pipelines...included is a blurb on how safe these pipelines are so we really needn't worry...

I do not think we have to worry about wars or diseases ~ we're all going to be fracked to death first.

Shameful, these rich oil bastards will do anything for a buck. They would probably sell their wives and mothers to the highest bidders. I haven't been to Maine yet but I've heard how beautiful it is; I hope they stop this tar sands crap at the border.

I want to know why, if Canada is will for this toxic gunk, does it have to go thru the USA? Can't it just stay where it is wanted, in Canada. We need this like we need another hole in the head.

UNACCEPTABLE! Canada . Keep your dirty tar sands in your own country and leave ours alone! None of this oil is for the USA so keep it in your own country! Ruin your own country when the spills happen . . and you know they will since there has already been spills!

Canada; I think you have made a big mistake and I am sorry because you have been good neighbors. I pray that the pipeline will NOT be ALLOWED in the USA.

If Canada must move this muck then run the pipelines through Ontario and Quebec... not the US. If those folks don't want the pipelines either then leave the crap in the ground.
