Noted. Interesting and quite complex, as the article explains. Even the rancher states that he "...even admires many agents, but he has come to doubt the agency (Border Patrol), as it has grown in size." "They just hired too many riffraff, crooks, thugs."
"Cunningham concedes 98 percent of the border crossers who come through his property are just poor people who want a job." And, my greatest objection, as one who lives within 100 miles of this border, is that rock throwing by Mexican nationals is returned by gunfire from Border Patrol. Shades of Israel-Palestine! The indiscriminate murder of youngsters & teenagers is abhorrent to me. I don't want a "militarized" border, nor do I want a "border war."

Thank you, Cal. This is an important article. Long ago--before anyone on Care2 was born--some of the land north of the current border belonged to Mexico.(For example: gringos were the invaders at the Alamo.) Three causes of continuing conflict, on the part of both Mexico and the U.S., are economics, prejudice and population growth. Solve the third problem and you'll solve the other two.

NO worries..when the NAU is fully implemented, the borders come down and America will have officially assimilated, annexed, Mexico and Canada, because..they need the resources to replace the ones they squandered..now have to buy back at 100 times the price, so steal from Mexico and Canada under threat of invasion, so go tell Putin how bad he is :0)..remember the Native Americans and reap your own whirl wind of Karmic justice.
About to be displaced..to where.. Russia :0) China..work camps :) death camps..:) Fema prisons.:)
Oil war with Iran.:) that should suggest, oil theft from Iran :0) It's a joke.. a bloody awful bad joke on us..the drunk on excess and freedom..democratically impaired..slept through the coup..:) Globalist defacto rulers now.. and they are baaad boys :)

Must be so tough to live on the border...this family has a realistic and maternal view of the plights to a better life. I hope some of our Mexican immigrants go into banking!!!

Great article, cannot add more to this important issue. Both Lois and Will L say it all, will just ditto their statements. One caveat, legalize drugs and see how much less violence will be on either side of the border. Every country which has legalized drugs has seen a large decrease in violence, theft and most importantly the reduction in drug addicts.

It's not the color of skin or even the content of character. It's a complex issue with unpleasant issues to be addressed.

No one with the power of the airwaves has the courage to do so, and it will therefore not be resolved with an honest discussion.

It is obvious where the US stands in this... haven't they contracted the Israeli company responsible for building the great dividing wall on their own turf?

In response to "Eternal Gardener" above----Yes, it's the same company, approved by our GOP controlled state legislature.
