Why, provide tax credits for it? I think Obama proved it can be done. And if you want to fight the influence of big business, shouldn't thee rules curtail the unions (it seems to me the work they do is much more effective than adds which can be ignored).

I must be pretty dumb because don't get this. I'm all for government of the people and overturning citizens united and McCutcheon, but how does matching "everyday voters" contributions with everyday voters' public funds solve anything? And what guarantee is there that the everyday voter is going to vote for a politician that will deliver what this measure is attempting to do? Sounds like a waste of public funds to me. Lets just start making demands instead and using contributions more efficiently, where it counts the most.

The only way for the people to get government to work for them is to have public funding of elections.
Until that happens the situation will only get worse.

I understand what you're saying Tim. Perhaps we need to take every road possible to get our country back (forward) to the democracy it should be. To start, we'll need dollars to battle dollars as its' the only language that the power hungry comprehend...

US people should also sign the petition movetoamend. Enough signatures would mean you will overturn the Citizens United ruling and bring back the true meaning of democracy.

Movetoamend declares in its petition: We, the People of the United States of America, reject the U.S. Supreme Court's Citizens United ruling and other related cases, and move to amend our Constitution to firmly establish that money is not speech, and that human beings, not corporations, are persons entitled to constitutional rights.

Yes, we need to amend ourselves out of C.U. and McC.
AND elect officials who will be more apt to care about their constituents than about the country's economic/ imperialist agenda.
We need people who will not cut food and milk for the poor, so as to have more available for the military, and oil company subsidies, which is what Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, and all before them did; not to mention Reagan,Bush, Bush, Cheney.

It's worth working on and if passed may buy us a little time in which to pass a Constitutional Amendment before the Supreme Court can declare this act unconstitutional, which the current court most certainly will. But I'd be working on a Constitutional Amendment too (in fact I am - see

US people should also sign the petition at movetoamend. Enough signatures would mean you will overturn the Citizens United ruling and bring back the true meaning of democracy. Visit and sign petition at:
"The liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerated the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than the democratic state itself. That in its essence is fascism: ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or any controlling private power." Franklin D. Roosevelt

We don't have a government _by the people_, we have a government by the legislators that we, fortunately or unfortunately, elect.

Once in office, they have a unique way of disregarding when the people want.
