Twenty years ago, most political scientists would say, Rwanda was doomed to become another Somalia, but the country escaped that fate

Interesting! Thanks For Sharing! I remember the atrocities in Rwanda all too well. We were stuck in a traffic jam and the news came through on our car radio that over 50,000 people had been killed that weekend, it turned out to be many more, I recall screaming to my husband 50,000 PEOPLE IN ONE WEEKEND - It has never left me and never will. Pregnant women raped and their babies bayoneted out of their wombs, atrocities no civilized being could ever imagine, the Canadian who stayed and saved so many lives and has nightmares over the thousands He could not save? Interesting? Has Anybody actually read the article or do you gloss over it and leave "Thanks for Sharing Cal"? Read and Digest, you may actually learn something,

I did a workshop in Ethiopia at the UN and many in the class were from Rwanda, They shared their stories, horrifying stories of their survival, the death of their friends and family. There are still today, many things going on, sub rosa, where the government is punishing those that survived for having survived. The story of Rwanda is so much more than, say, the movie Hotel Rwanda. Margaret is right....people were pulled out of their cars on the way to church and they would select one family member to decapitate. The joy of the perpetrators was in the fear of the survivors.
