ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS! TY Cal for this humane and positive news!
" Meanwhile, here in the United States, cities have installed transit seats with dividers, or have turned to impossible-to-lie-on curved benches, to keep homeless folks from sleeping on them. While the goal is to help people get off the street and into permanent housing, this solution in Vancouver is nice to see." DESPICABLE and INHUMANE!

What an amazing idea! Way to go Vancouver...wish more cities took it upon themselves to help the homeless rather than treating them as criminals. Some have even erected steel spikes instead of creatively coming up with humane alternatives as this! Very impressed. Thanks Cal

Meanwhile in the US, major cities are trying to get "homeless camps" set up...herd them all in there and they'll not see much of anything else...but, hey, they'll have a permanent residence. And the GOPTP voters think that's a perfect solution...

Wonderful idea. I wished they would do the same here in Ontario.

This s a truly wonderful idea, and so simple, and probably cheap too. Glad to hear there are still parts of Canada that haven't been drowned by the unholy holier-than-thou right wing. Spammer and profile flagged,

This is a wonderful idea, compassionate, so simple, and probably cheap too. I'm glad to hear there are still parts of Canada that haven't been taken over by unholy holier-then-thou right wing types. Flagged spammer and profile. If this is a duplicate post I apologize, my first attempt seems to have vanished.

Flagged the advertising Spammer!

What Susanne says about the United States applies to Paris, too: the RATP which runs the metro a few years ago starting replacing the normal benches with either transit seats with dividers, or impossible-to-lie-on-or-even-sit-down-on curved 'benches' that you can just lean on, of course "to keep homeless folks from sleeping on them."

As others have said, why not be creative & humane when so many people are homeless and in need of place to rest, to sit down & to safely sleep protected from the elements?
Kudos to this Vancouver org initiative & the city that allows it!

A wonderful idea! Those who spurn compassion and kindness will learn with difficulty that what goes around comes around. The mean, inhumane, morally criminal options, such as park benches made impossible to sleep on and ordinances forbidding feeding the homeless, will one way or another backfire on their perpetrators.

The homeless need a break, not more barriers!!
