President Obama has requested $3.7 billion to deal with the immigration crisis, but African Americans are wondering, where are the funds for urban America?

Noted. Also signed the petition for immigration reform.

There are laws on the books to compel America to act in cases involving peoples fleeing to our country from oppression, such as happened with refugees from Cuba. Not only that, there is specifically the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act passed in 2008 under George Bush that allows the government to grant status to and protect these children.

I'm not sure the federal government is allowed to step into a state to rectify a situation such as described without the state requesting it. The president is already under fire for "overstepping his authority." Just imagine what would happen if he were to act federally in what many consider his "hometown."

It's unfortunate that we have such a division in this country politically because it is our nation's children who will pay the ultimate price in the long run.

Susan makes a good point. How does the federal government aid a situation unless the state requests it? The government cannot directly improve the schools, hire more police. On the other hand, gun control is another issue that this administration has failed miserably to address.

Before signing remember that the immigration problem is complicated. This is only one part of a much larger pie.
The federal government is the primary in immigration and trumps state law. The only reason this is happening is that the governments of these countries are getting rid of the unwanted by allowing misrepresentations of the dream act to be published. It is interesting that the Mexican government allows the invaders to come through their territory.

All people all over our globe need our help if they have to leave their countries.
We have to be more compassionate about them.
How would you see that if you had to leave your country with your family?
Petition signed.

Noted. Thanks, Cal. Whatever happened to "...give me your tired, hungry and poor..." Last night, Bill Maher suggested on his show that we should just replace the Statue Of Liberty with Godzilla....

I personally don.t think the youth doing these crimes won.t saved, but I would rather try to help our own people first, we have a lot of seniors that could use some of the 3,7 billion to help feed, get medications, etc plus all the vets need help

The funds for urban America were spent on the war in Afghanistan which cost the US one billion dollars per day. The us government are happy to spend this amount of money on foreign wars rather than give their people the standard of life they deserve.

They need to close their borders to illegal aliens.. America needs to look after its own before it can do others
