In Zimbabwe, 15 % of its natural forest has been burnt down as farmers free more land to plant tobacco. On current trends, the country will be a desert in just 35 years from now.

I'm pretty certain that is not how you forecast, as while nor to blame all the problems on tobacco which had accounted for much of the revenue produced, the recent trends are that many commercial growers have also introduced other high-value crops, including export roses, supermarket vegetables, paprika and coffee as part of their farm system, specifically to lessen their dependence on tobacco. More than 80 percent of all horticultural exports, for example, are grown on tobacco farms and were first developed using tobacco revenue.
