"Scientists regard the Yasuní rainforest as one of the most biodiverse places on Earth, with an extraordinary abundance of birds, primates, reptiles, and amphibians. The park contains more tree and insect species in a single hectare (2.47 acres) than in all the U.S. and Canada combined."

This rain forest is a treasure and must not be pillaged.

Correction to my earlier comment: my letter was in fact sent. I didn't get the usual pop-up confirmation that it had been sent, so I thought it hadn't been. I found the confirmation later in my email. I'm glad to know that twitter membership wasn't required for this.

As long as you drive internal combustion engine powered car, you are a part of the rpoblem. It is not just contamination of areas whwere oil is extracted but also increased CO2 emissions in the air, associated with a gloval climate changes and also finacing of terrorism by Muslim oil money.

Thus bike, use public transport (electric trains and biuses) and wean yourself from oil as much as possible. Walk the walk rather then just talkjing the talk.

82% of Fossil Fuel Reserves must be LEFT IN THE GROUND - 82%! -
if we are to avert Climate CATASTROPHE due to Global Warming.
NO MORE drilling, coal mining, fracking,
and transporting, leaking and spilling and exploding,
and BURNING and spewing into the Atmosphere.
NO MORE exploration for new sources!
This should be Environmentalists' MANTRA:
the Coal in the Hole
the Tar Sands in the Land.
Eliminate ALL use and extraction of Dirty Fossil Fuels for Energy, NOW! ASAP
