"So these innocent families are faced with a horrible choice: descend the mountain and be slaughtered, or stay and die of thirst and hunger…"

I saw him on television last night making that announcement. I know the American public has no appetite for more war. I don't want us to be the world's policemen. But, this particular group of truly horrible men are so completely evil that I fully believe they will murder the entire group. They've done so many times in their parade around Syria and Iraq. I don't know what will happen in that country but it isn't going to be peace, not for some time to come anyway, because I don't believe for a moment ISIL has any intention of stopping and setting borders, not until they get to Iran anyway. A new government in Iraq, while a seemingly good idea, is only going to add to the crisis as the new leadership forms committee's and responsibilities and tries to ensure their military forces are actually theirs. I have no idea how many are actually rebels but I'm thinking a good number. Loyalties have never lasted long in Babylon and everyone wants a piece of someone else's pie. There is nothing "civil" about war, but this is one that may go on for a long time - memories there go back centuries and there will be insurrection no matter which group is nominally in charge. It still is a problem they must solve themselves, no imposed from the outside solutions have ever worked in that entire region. Nor will they now. Humanitarian aid is a stopgap, all who are not part of ISIL are in deadly danger whether we drop food and water or not. That won't change even if this crisis is averted. What a horribly sad region of the planet that NOT holy land is.

If Iraq gets much more help from the US, then there won't be any Iraq left. Everything happening in Iraq today is a direct consequence of imperialistic American military intervention and the politics of endless war.

To have to flee for your lives Young, Old, Babies, elderly being helped on walking frames UP A MOUNTAIN, to arrive at NOTHING - no food, water or safety NADA. As a Brit, I believe America is doing the only thing it can DO - give Humanitarian Aid to the terrified stateless who have nobody and nothing to turn to. Did you hear the witness account of the Priest today - "they are decapitating people and putting their heads on the tops of crosses, they are chopping babies in two" because they refused to convert to Islam. The people 'hiding for their lives on the mountain' refuse to 'convert' and say they would rather die than convert to Islam. Would I sign to NOT send Aid to them - NEVER. We live Free to choose our own Religion if we so choose, would we die for it? Send ALL THE FOOD AND WATER YOU CAN PRESIDENT OBAMA - it may be a temporary stop-gap for these terrified souls - but better than nothing at all until God Willing help reaches them.

The US administration is hypocritical they and that useless organization the UN have once again criticized Israel for defending their country and attack from Hamas and called for another ceasefire. The US and their lackey's the British will soon be at war again in Iraq but they can't pretend they did so in order to protect their own citizens.the way the US is behaving they are going to cause another world war.At the moment they are still fighting in Afghanistan are now engaged in Iraq threatening the Russians want's to go to war in Syria and want's to bomb Iran.America is abusing it's place as the world's superpower. If they are behaving this way under the pretext of humanitarian aid for the people of Iraq and Libya What about the people of Syria?.

Why is the threat of ISIS in Iraq a sufficiently vital interest, but not the rise of ISIS in Syria ?
The answer … may well involve the use of force on a limited but immediate basis, in both countries.

oh, I understand, because there is vital interest of Tel Aviv...

Simon Elliot, aka Al-Baghdadi, son of Jewish parents, Mossad agent
Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, so-called ”Caliph,” the head of ISIL (Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant is, according to sources reputed to originate from Edward Snowden, an actor named Elliot Shimon, a Mossad trained operative

Parsifal, what a load of drivel you talk. The only reason no-one cares about Syria is that it is an opportunity for Russian and the US to sabre rattle. Thousands of Christians are being killed, which you don't care about, as well as Muslims. Many are used as target practice, pregnant mothers in the stomach and children in the spine. The reason we know about this is that Israel is trying to treat as many as possible, what are you doing Parsifal? What about the dozens of beheadings by the "rebels"?

Diplomacy will not work with ISIS. Eliminate them before more damage is done with no American boots on the ground. By the way, Bagdadio, there will be no ISIS flag flying in the US anywhere. ISIS, you are full of yourself and are nothing but a bunch of thugs running around the desert fighting ghosts and innocent people. Who have you really fought, Bugs Bunny, The Road Runner, Dopey-Sneezy and Snow White, the absent Iraqi military? And now you kill innocents by the hundreds and act like a bunch of tough guys. Sad, you are not religious, you are criminals, murderers and full of hot air and BS. I now show you the bottom of my shoes.
