Certainly not a first time for this outfit. Don't the Koch brothers own a big chunk of Duke?

Noted. Thanks, Cal. Yes, Duke & the Kochs can only see dollar $igns and don't care about damage. At least, the article says, they'll have to close 6 coal plants by the end of the year. Wonder how many more 'toxic events' will happen between now and then? Lately I feel like I'm living back in the '60s.....before the E.P.A. was created.

There should be greater penalties for causing spills such as this.

Well, Duke does not have the best track record when it comes to safety and how they conduct their business. I hope they have to close all their plants-good riddance to them.

More ecological disaster. More death and destruction. When will that man will open your eyes and see that life and nature is far more important than money? The ambition blinds men.

As a resident of southeastern NC, where Duke Energy is doing the same sort of thing (but with coal ash), this report is *very* troubling...

Why is there no mention of Duke Energy's efforts to TOTALLY clean the spill area till is passes environment inspection by Audubon or the Sierra Club?

How bad will things have to get for the oligarchs in this nation to phase out the production and consumption of fossil fuels? Can our species survive their greed? It's getting harder and harder to see a future for life on this planet.

Duke should be held responsible for the cleanup of this oil spill.
