United Nations peacekeepers are not allowed to enter into combat, even shoot without proper UN authority and then it is only to protect and defend. It is a dangerous mission. I hope that these prisoners will be released safely and soon.

Think back to the genocide in Rwanda. UN troops under Roméo Dallaire were not allowed to shoot back despite the severe conditions and the ethnic cleansing that was happening.

No easy mission and one that takes its toll for years to come.

I wonder why Israel doesn't place its security in the hands of U.N. peacekeepers. I think I've worked it out.
