McDonald’s and Starbucks have today announced that they will be donating all profits from now until Sunday to Israel war. Also, the producers of Adam Sandler’s new movie Bed Time Stories will be donating their profits to Israel . Be informed, and urge others to boycott McDonald’s and Starbucks. Also don’t take your kids to see a movie that promotes violence by association.

Together we can make a difference!

This is merely a false rumor that has been circulating through text messages and on blogs. Both McDonald's and Starbucks have publicly denied any such donations.

And as for Adam Sandler's movie, I haven't seen anything on the internet about any formal announcement that he is donating any profits to Israel. What I have seen is a lot of criticism of the movie from Muslims - which may well be the source of the creation of a false rumor against him.

http://www.muslimbridges.org/content/view/1027/36/

If anyone has any reputable sources which show actual public announcements by either the producers of the movie or McDonald's/Starbucks that such donations are being made, I think we'd all be interested in seeing the proof.

And, Madalena - why would you want to boycott McDonald's? When you've already been informed that there is zero evidence that they are donating the profits to Israel? And have, in fact, denied that fact.

RESEARCH FINDINGS :

McDonald's is the largest and best-known global food service retailer with more than 30,000 restaurants in 121 countries.[8]

McDonalds chairman and CEO Jack M. Greenberg is an honorary director of the American-Israel Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc., of Metropolitan Chicago.[9]

According to the Chicago Jewish Community Online (website of the Jewish United Fund of Metropolitan Chicago), McDonalds Corporation whose global headquarters is based just outside Chicago is a major corporate partner of the Jewish United Fund and Jewish Federation.[1].

Through its Israel Commission, the Jewish United Fund "works to maintain American military, economic and diplomatic support for Israel; monitors and, when necessary, responds to media coverage of Israel"[2].

The Jewish United Fund runs "Fun-filled Summer Family Missions to Israel" (the next one is on Aug 19 2002) where families get to "visit an army base and meet with Israeli soldiers" and "visit our sister city, Kiryat Gat and see the important work we are doing there"[3]. Kiryat Gat, you may be aware from the Boycott Intel Campaign, is built on stolen Palestinian land - the lands of the villages of Iraq Al Manshiya and Al-Faluja whose residents were ethnically cleansed in 1949 in contravention of International Law[6]. Through its "Partnership to Israel" programme, the Jewish United Fund provides $1.3 million annually[5] to help the development of Kiryat Gat and to promote further illegal settlement there.

In the Jewish United Funds outreach program they pay for Christian leaders and American high school kids to visit Israel and be fed zionist lies.[4]

McDonalds entered the Israeli market in 1993 and now has 80 resturants across Israel, providing employment to some 3000 Israelis.[7]

Starbucks Coffee Stores (4,709 locations world-wide) see[8][9][10] for details.

Starbuck coffee, chocolates, biscuits & ice-cream products

Seattle Coffee Company in the United Kingdom with more than 60 retail locations (aquired 1998).

Pasqua Inc., a San Francisco based coffee retailer in (aquired 1998).

Hear Music, a San Francisco based music company (aquired 1999).

Tazo®, a Portland, Oregon based tea company (aquired 1999).

RESEARCH FINDINGS :

Howard Shultz, the chairman of Starbucks is an active zionist.

In 1998 he was honoured by the Jerusalem Fund of Aish HaTorah with "The Israel 50th Anniversary Friend of Zion Tribute Award" for his services to the zionist state in "playing a key role in promoting close alliance between the United States and Israel". The Jerusalem Fund of Aish HaTorah funds israeli arms fairs chaired by the butcher of Jenin - General Shaul Mofaz, and the zionist propaganda website honestreporting.com.[1]

Howard Shultz,
Chairman of Starbucks

His work as a propagandist for Israel has been praised by the Israeli Foreign Ministry as being key to Israel's long-term PR success [2].

Recently whilst the Israeli army was slaughtering Palestinians in Jenin, Nabulus and Bethlehem he made a provocative speech blaming the Palestinians of terrorism, suggesting the intifada was a manifestation of anti- Semitism, and asked people to unite behind Israel [3].

At a time when other businesses were desperately pulling out of Israel, Starbucks decided to help Israel's floundering economy and invest in Israel - a joint venture with Israeli conglomerate Delek Group for Starbucks outlets in Israel ( Shalom Coffee Co).[4][5][6]. A bad business decision - Starbucks made heavy losses and in April 2003 Starbucks were forced to announced that all 6 Starbucks cafes in Israel will be shut down and its partnership with Delek end.[14]

It has been revealed that Starbucks still continues to support Israel by sponsoring fund raisers for Israel.[15]

See [11] for suggested action against Starbucks..

Oxfam has misguidedly partnered with Starbucks in return for £100,000 - please support our "Campaign Against Oxfam Agreement with Starbucks".

Starbucks fully supports Bush's war of terror and has opened a Starbucks in Afghanistan for the US invaders - they like to do there bit to help the occupation.[17]

ADDITIONAL INFO & REFs :

[1] Israel 50th Anniversary Friend of Zion Tribute Award

Howard Schultz was presented with "The Israel 50th Anniversary Friend of Zion Tribute Award" by the The Jerusalem Fund of Aish HaTorah in August 27, 1998. [a][e]

According to the Jerusalem Fund of Aish HaTorah "The Friends of Zion award salutes leaders who have played key roles in promoting close alliance between the United States and Israel"[e]

Lindsey, never believe anything until
it's been officially denied.
If you like Israel and enjoy seeing them
commit genocide against the Palestinian people,
then by all means, go and gorge yourself at
McDonald's and Starbucks!
If the humanity of the Palestinians is what
matters to you, then there are ALOT of places on the
web to find info of what companies do business in
Israel.
Make your choice, and spend your money.
But, if you really want to get involved
in shutting down the Israeli war machine,
go to this site and get involved:

Thank you Cheryl Sunshine Benson for the additional info!!!

It is Boycott for me. I will not support anyone that knowingly supports a close
alliance between the United States and Israel!!! The United States needs to get
its collective head out of its collective anal orifice and dump the support and
maintenance of Israel before they murder all Palestinians!!!

We as the American People must stop this Genocide!!!

Thank you Mada. (And may God forgive us.)

I see, Tim. If they officially deny it - they're guilty. If they had admitted it - they're guilty. In short - anytime a rumor is started against a company: believe it whether evidence exists or not.

When Israel stops its military terrorism, war crimes and other oppression against the people of Palestine, and when Israel agrees to the 2-state solution, including the right for the millions of Palestinian refugees to return, then there will be a lasting peace.

When the U.S. government stops supporting Israel (e.g. ends the annual $3 billion military aid to Israel), then Israel will be forced to end its aggressive, expansionist and genocidal policies.

Even if they ARE just rumors, boycott them anyway - they deserve it on their own account: McDonald's isn't real food, they've been serving unhealthy food for years, making Americans fat, & Starbucks, at least here in France, is unjustifiably expensive.
