The cessation of fighting in Gaza has allowed the true scale of destruction there to be revealed.

Sherine Tadros reports from the north of the strip on the despair of one father who says Israeli forces shot and killed two of his daughters at close range.

A spokesperson for the Israeli army told Al Jazeera in response to the father's allegations that Israeli soldiers "do not behave in this fashion" and the army "only returns fire to areas from which it was fired upon".

When Israel stops its military terrorism, war crimes and other oppression against the people of Palestine, and when Israel agrees to the 2-state solution, including the right for the millions of Palestinian refugees to return, then there will be a lasting peace.

When the USA stops supporting Israel (e.g. ends the annual $3 billion military aid to Israel), then Israel will be forced to end its aggressive, expansionist and genocidal policies.

How Social Media War Was Waged in Gaza-Israel Conflict

"If I were an Arab leader, I would never sign an agreement with Israel. It is normal; we have taken their country. It is true God promised it to us, but how could that interest them? Our God is not theirs. There has been Anti - Semitism, the Nazis, Hitler, Auschwitz, but was that their fault ? They see but one thing: we have come and we have stolen their country. Why would they accept that?" -- David Ben Gurion

I'm almost 54 and for most of my life I've heard about the conflicts between Israel and Palestine. Everytime they get close to some type of agreement something happens and they are killing each other again. I feel for the people on both sides; I can't imagine how difficult it must be to live there day-to-day, to raise children, to hope that you can make it through another day alive.

At some point there will be so many deaths and destruction that there will be only a few people left to try to live among the rubble. Political leaders on both sides need to back down and make concessions.
