Build a shrimp farm in Thailand by cutting down mangrove forests and you will net about 8,000 dollars per hectare. Meanwhile, the destruction of the forest and pollution from the farm will result in a loss of ecosystems worth 35,000 dollars/ha per year.

Mangroves are such an important part of our ocean and lake waterways.
They are its "nurseries.
While they may not look (or smell) the most aesthetically pleasing it is important that they be left alone

We are all guitly of destruction of the planet. I have changed my life to live in harmony with nature. The most important change I made was family planning - my posting on American Singles states I have no children and plan on having one.

It is easy to look at what other countries are doing until we realize what we have done with ours. Virtually all the virgin forest in the contiguous United States has been destroyed. We are already causing starvation due to high prices because some elected officials decided to make alcohol from corn (WE MUST STOP THIS). We are killing ourselves from eating too much meat I eat four to six pounds a year.

When we set an exmaple of how to live with nature others will follow us.

Daniel,

Hope you decide to have more children. Those who are causing reverse evolution ( the Jerry Springer crowd) are having a gazzilion without so much as a thought. Not to counter them is is just plain devolutionary.
