This is excellent! A guy on eBay is auctioning off his collection of Michael Vick sportscards - chewed by his dog! And all, 100%, of the proceeds go to the winning bidder's choice of Animal Shelter! what a great idea for a great cause!

I just loved it myself! It's not too often you get something good out of such a horrific situation but in this case this guy found a great way to express himself and help some needy dogs out at the same time. I hope the bigs go up.. up... up! the more the better and the more dogs that benefit! :)

That's a good dog! It's nice to see people letting their dogs get involved in the process.

This is great, I just checked on it and the bid went from just a couple of hundred dollars on Wednesday to over $2300 this morning!! This story got picked up by the media big time yesterday and the posting has gotten about 20,000 views now! There is going to be one very happy animal shelter from the proceeds of this auction. Rochelle Steffen, who is holding the auction, certainly came up with a unique and appropriately timed way to show her 'disgust' at Michael Vick!

ebay pulled the auction! WTH I cant believe it.. its probably because
they want their "missionfish" to take part of the donation!!!! They
make me sick!Article naming lots of promos against Vick

I just found out on ebay that this seller could scan the shelters 501c3 papers and put that into the auction body and then they dont have to go thru missionfish.

This may be why the listing was removed from eBay.... this is a comment copied from below the story which you can view if you do to the site....

***************************************************
I notified Ebay, CNN, and the NAACP about the website. It was shut down after I sent this email to Ebay:

Regarding Ebay item number: 200142824314
After reviewing the page that offers Micheal Vick cards chewed by a family dog, I consider the listing racist and hateful considering the history of African Americans in the United States where decades white slaves owners beat and killed them and allowed dogs to attack them. The cards in your ebay listing remind me of images of civil rights advocates being attacked by dogs during the 1950s and 1960s. Racism is still alive and prevalent in American society. I think this listing feeds racist attitudes hidden beneath the surface of American society. Considering we are still suffering the aftermath of the Viginia Tech shootings, I feel it is irresponsible of Ebay to ignore the potential for racial abuse illustrated in showing images of African American males chewed on by dogs. Will you please remove this image, considering African Americans I personally know have expressed outrage and concern that ebay would allow such a visually offensive image to be posted on its site. The same goes for the Micheal Vick dog chew dolls that you also have listed. If the listings arenít removed I will cancel my ebay account and contact my relations and friends to also do the same.

Sincerely, a concerned American citizen.

What has the Virginia Tech shooting have to do with this????????
And wouldn't the public have reacted the same way about all the abuse these poor animals suffered had the perpetrator been anyone other than Vick?

My sentiments as well! To be honest I am so tired of anyone who makes this a racial issue. I'd damn the person to hell no matter the color of their skin.

The woman who was doing the auction very specifically stated that it was a form of artistic expression to show her 'disgust' and that is was not meant to hurt or offend anyone. Some people just feel the need to twist things and cloud the issue.

It makes me very angry because the ones who suffer are the animals who would have benefited from the donation of the proceeds to the animal shelter. This was one small way that something good could have some from a horrific situation!

It is my opinion but is smacks of being pushy, overly sensitive and being a bully so to speak. Whoever got this removed is thinking less of the pain and suffering of these innocent dogs and more about perception that is unrealistic.
I'm positive had it been a caucasian football player the reaction would have been identical.............In years to come all anyone will remember is what this Vick has done and not much more because there isn't anything worthy about him to remember...............................

The Auction is back up!!! Ms. Steffen had to reword her listing and take out all 'charity' notations. Earlier today the bidding was up to $1100 and now it's up to $3250!!! Obviously the words getting back out!!! This is great!! :D
