As gruesome details of the crime emerged, Calgarian Ryan Jenkins, believed to have fled to Canada following the strangulation death of his swimsuit model ex-wife in southern California, has been charged with murder.

Police in Buena Park, Calif., where the naked body of 28-year-old Jasmine Fiore was found last Saturday stuffed into a suitcase and tossed into a dumpster, have charged the fugitive Calgary real estate investor.

Buena Park Police Lt. Steve Holliday said Fiore's body was found mutilated. "The fingers and teeth were removed," he said as Fiore's mother and two other family members, who were present, wept.

Bail has been set at US$10 million for Jenkins, who police warn may be armed with a handgun and should be considered dangerous.

The charge came hours after a man fitting reality TV show contestant Jenkins' description was seen arriving in a boat at Point Roberts, Wash., from where he's believed to have crossed into Canada on foot.

Police in Blaine, Wash., said they found Jenkins' BMW SUV and an empty boat trailer at a marina there.

The suspect's father, Dan, was reportedly flying back to Canada from Mexico and was hiring a lawyer for his son. "I have no comment -- I'm on a plane right now," Dan Jenkins, a prominent Calgary architect, told the Sun.

At the press conference, Fiore's ex-boyfriend, Robert Hasman, called Jenkins "an animal." He described Fiore as a "beautiful, very caring individual."

Police in Delta, B.C., have joined with their U.S. counterparts in using canine units and a helicopter in the hunt for Jenkins, said Const. Sharlene Brooks.

"We haven't been able to confirm he has entered Canada but if he has, he's entered illegally," she said.

After Jenkins was booted off the reality show Megan Wants a Millionaire, he married Fiore in Las Vegas after a two-day courtship last March but her mother said the relationship quickly hit the rocks.

News reports say the suspect last Friday intercepted a text message Fiore had sent to Hasman, asking to spend some time with him.

Jenkins was handed a conditional discharge for assaulting his then-Calgary girlfriend in 2005.

The hunt for this monster is over. He was arrested at the Toronto Canada Airport today.
Now the trial can start. I hope he spends the remaining years of his life behind bars.

Yes heard that he had committed suicide, hope that he made right with himself and God before he did... Obviously the guilt just got too much, and this was the result... Awful
