Watching CNN Hero's 2011 I was inspired by all but Derreck Kayongo's story opened my eyes!
That is why I posted this news story .
Here is the original from CNN
Recycling hotel soap to save lives

Global Soap Projecta>

Volunteer - Get Involved - Share this message with Friends - Think about it !

CNN Hero Derreck Kayongo, a Uganda native, started the Global Soap Project in 2009
The group recycles partially used hotel soaps and sends them to impoverished nations
Kayongo says many children are dying because they lack access to basic sanitation

I usually donate all the HOTEL SOAPS I GET TO MY LOCAL FOODBANK, AND I KEEP SOME IN THE CAR FOR WHEN I STOP AND OFFER MONEY TO SOMEONE WHO LOOKS LIKE THEY NEED IT, BUT I AM SO GLAD A PROGRAM LIKE THIS IS IN PLACE, THOUGH "LIFESAVING SUDS' IS ON THE BUTTERFLY REWARD LIST..crud, sorry about the capital letters.
As you can see i need to look at my keyboard when typing :-)
To busy to redo, please live with it :-)

Thank you Rosemary for bringing this easy to do, but life savings for many to C2.

life saving suds about the need

For many of us, a bar of soap is a staple by the sink. For others, a bar of soap can save a life. Soap can stop the spread of disease or keep a child healthy.
about this gift

This gift supplies a deserving community with a quarter-pound of multipurpose soap. So, help families lather up!

Please go to your Butterfly Redeem Section and consider donating life saving suds. I know it is one that I pick to support.

Sounds like a great idea. I'm all in favour of something that saves waste and if it helps other people as well, so much the better. Perhaps hotels could buy into this and store the soap and send it off when they have a good quantitiy?

Noted. When we toured in Mexico and in Guatemala we collected and donated all our free bath products, from the hotels, to the local villagers. We even gave children our packed lunches!
