Here are the precious purr babies listed to be euthanized tomorrow Thursday, April 23.
Thank you for caring to share with everyone you know to help save them.

Pets on Deathrow is no longer facebook based, so if you were never able to view the cats and dogs before because of facebook, YOU NOW CAN VIEW THEM!
PLEASE FIND THE CATS AND DOGS IN THE LINK BELOW --- Urgent PODR (not facebook)
Urgent PODR

FOSTERING IS FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you need assistance fostering or adopting, a rescue can help you and arrange transport if travelling to NY is not an option. There is free transport up to 4 hours from NYC so if you want to adopt a cat and live a bit farther you can drive and meet the van!
If you foster, the rescue pays for any vet bills, you just provide the love and accomodation until a forever home is found

For more information on a particular cat, email adoption@nycacc.org but ONLY if serious about adopting Please do not email for status updates...the only thing you will accomplish is spamming their in boxes and causing REAL adopter emails to go unnoticed. Contact the NYC ACC at (212) 788-4000 for further automated instructions

Have you decided to rescue a cat on death row? The following is a list of rescues that might be able to assist. Remember, time is sensitive. They begin killing at noon, the morning after these lists are posted. Placing applications with more than one group increases the chances of someone being able to see and respond quickly-- this improves your chances of being approved. When at all possible, please try to fill out applications and get approved to adopt or foster BEFORE the animal is on "the list" and it is at the 11th hour!
*When writing them, be sure to indicate the animal id number, name and shelter location in the SUBJECT line. You must include all contact info for yourself, including email and phone. Explain to them that the animal is on the ACC euthanasia list for the next morning and that you would like to foster/adopt.

Geez, and they can't even give these poor cats a chance!!!! It's not their fault. Poor angels, I am so bitter and angry and frustrated that these things just continue and we can't stop it.

I noted, unfortunately nothing I can do from this distance, and daily more cats are added. These are posted daily and even on sharing, there is no way all these cats will find homes. The only way to begin to stop this is to offer low cost or free spay and neutering programs, lots of education to get people to do that, and NO Kill Shelters with a massive campaign to get people to look to shelters before they go "buy" any animal out of a pet store. By the time it gets to this point it is already too late.......efforts need to be given up front to push society to be preventive instead of dealing with a crisis each day.

Sorry Roemary & Dandelion is right then hopefully people would spay & neuter their cats. Then & only then these poor souls with be cared for properly. Giving cats away for FREE can be dangerous for the cats. They can be used as bait in some places. Its so sad. Hugs my sweet friend. Sis.

I wish that GENEROUS minded Vets would offer free sterilization for needy animals. There are probably thousands of them making huge amounts of money.

Thanks for posting, Rosemary, I hope all or most of these kitties are saved. It is so heartbreaking to see perfectly beautiful and healthy cats being killed every day of the week. These kitties don't want to die, they want a loving home with food to eat and people to love them. They ask for so little and give so much. Help them. We need to get the shelters to all be NO KILL shelters.

Thank you everyone for noting and commenting.
Just a note in response to Dandelion's comment which is certainly valid.
Sadly individuals surrender their pets due to a hospitalization or death, in many instances there is a 'conflict' with children, allergies etc.
Cats that have been through the TNR process are brought into the ACC and ultimately killed.
Finding homes for all the cats is possible through the many rescue agencies presently available for intake.
Cats listed as Public available to the public for adoption or fostering need more than the short time frame the NYC ACC gives them.
As Barbara points out and clearly when you read each cats details, many are healthy responsive sweet cats, again reaffirming the fact that they have been in a family situation and socialized.
Truly the sad part is to know they have been 'dumped' off at the shelter because they are no longer wanted.
There are so many factors that come into play but the bottom line is this, see my news item
COMPTROLLER STRINGER AUDIT: IMPROPER HANDLING OF DRUGS AND POOR SHELTER CONDITIONS AT ANIMAL CARE & CONTROL
Clearly cats and dogs for that matter have suffered and will continue to suffer until there is a complete overhaul and revision of all protocols including medical care, that would ensure pets and ferals the time needed to recover and be adopted, fostered or rescued.

As a registered colony caretaker through the Humane Society in conjuction with animal services all cats go through the TNR process - trap, neuter, release - where they are spayed//neutered,vaccinated and micro-chipped, then returned to the colony where I have the opportunity to rehome them, to the extent that they are healthy.

Feral cats brought to the NYC ACC and who have not gone through the TNR process deserve to be medically taken care of and given a health check for rehoming; however this never happens. They are put on the euth list before any opportunity to be rehomed is possible.
For those feral cats who have been through the TNR process again they are put on the euth list without any regard given to that specific status.

Every comment offered is so important so that we can all gain a clearer understanding of exactly what is going on. So please continue to share and as always I appreciate your caring about these precious cats.

Sorry but I did want to acknowledge Jocelyn's comment: "Giving cats away for FREE can be dangerous for the cats. They can be used as bait in some places." Absolutely ! Pet stores have 'adoption' days whereby prospective 'family' or individuals are not screened as they should be = comparing to the HS process of adoption. Websites such as eBay and Craigslist are notorious for allowing anyone to post an ad for a free pet again without any screening.
We the public need to change this and there are petitions addressing this issue we can sign. However, it's going to take a major outpouring / campaign to end this irresponsible money making off pets advertising !
Breeders get away with advertising on these websites. To them, it's all business = $$$$$'s !!!!!
