While much of the rest of the world watches the Gaza war in horror and scrambles for a cease-fire, U.S. lawmakers are pressing the Obama administration to take no action that puts pressure on Israel to halt its military operations.

Fearing AIPAC, our politicians have criticized stopping violence!

“Many even have criticized the administration's effort to stop the violence that has killed more than 1,100 Palestinians, mostly civilians, and more than 50 Israeli soldiers and three civilians this month.”

"This week, legislators will discuss a $225 million request from the Defense Department to urgently bolster Israel's Iron Dome missile defense system."

"Republicans and Democrats are clashing over whether to approve the funds in a larger spending bill or separately, though NO ONE publicly opposes the payments. Senate appropriators already have approved doubling next year's money for the system."

War crimes or no war crimes, NO ONE opposes the payments!

We can’t have ambassadors in our embassies because Israel didn’t like the idea to suspending US flights to Israel.

So Israel can shut down our government, but we can’t tell Israel to stop committing war crimes!

i am sick to the stomach of seeing the SUFFERING every day & not being able to do anything to help! It's frustrating having to sit back & watch the slaughter, knowing that the ones who can do something are not doing anything, i don't want to become immune to the horror, i know many will.
My sick mother & i watched it again on the TV tonight, we both cried....
i send heart-loads of LOVE & LIGHT to ALL

Thank You Sam

"In a weekend call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Barack Obama stressed the need for an "immediate, unconditional, humanitarian cease-fire." Obama, a White House statement said, suggested larger questions would then come later."

"Such talk has alarmed lawmakers of both parties."

What could be more alarming for politicians on AIPAC’s payroll than "immediate, unconditional, humanitarian cease-fire"?

They don’t even want U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to report accurately on Israel’s "atrocious actions."

Israel is not only killing Palestinian children in Gaza. It is killing American children right here in the US by diverting badly needed funds for their medical treatments so that Israel can continue committing crimes against humanity.

Israel’s crimes against humanity are not limited to Gaza anymore. They have reached our shores.

The United States of Israel as it should be called needs to focus on the many problems plaguing their own country like the ancient infrastructure--which desperately could use $$225 million---stop paying 4 this unjust brutal war. This war is also provoking more hatred towards Israel+Jewish people. Thanks Sam

Internationally Israel is granted the right to commit atrocities and provided with the most enhanced and influential means to kill and destroy. Internationally other states are denied the peaceful and legal rights to use their own resources, properties and capabilities. They want to convince us that it is the right Israel to protect its people while others are denied this right, I wonder where the proclaimed justice and fairness are gone.
Thank you Sam for sharing

It became very clear that Netanyahu had gained confidence by America's backing when he announced last night that the Israelis have to prepare themselves for a long war in Gaza which they will make sure the win (this time). The Iron Dome is fully functional guaranteeing minimal Israeli civilian casualties and America (well the Republicans) are OK with everything he has done up to now and are promising full support for whatever he's going to do. So Netanyahu is good to go, isn't he?

Republican Sen. Rand Paul, a potential 2016 presidential candidate, formerly the bane of the Israel lobby for suggesting a U.S. aid cutoff, has said no one should question Israel's actions in a time of war.

Same BS that we got when USA was in the War of Lies with Iraq......don't question. 4,486 U.S. service members were killed in Iraq, they were all someone's child, spouse, sibling, friend. The 22 suicides per day by former combatants, nor those who remain uncounted with PTSD.

Nearly half a million people have died in Iraq from war-related causes in Iraq since the US-led invasion in 2003.
That doesn't even take in the continued unrest and violence that was caused due to the creating of unstable conditions in the area.

I won't even begin to break it down into how many were children, how much environmental damage was done and what DU is doing over in Iraq in the cost of birth deformities alone.....that will go on for decades to come. I know that Agent Orange is still having affects in Vietnam.

But hey, we shouldn't question anything.........

That's right.....just let it happen......those in power has everyone's best interest in mind. Your Patriotic duty is not to question no matter what Country you live in that is having a war. Don't question, just go along with the party line.

Let us also not forget Afghanistan, Pakistan, how about the Journalist killed trying to get the truth out to the world, all of the humanitarian workers that were killed......the direct and indirect consequences of wars.

So far, the fiancial cost to the American people has been $4.4 Trillion and Counting.......

But hey, don't question that.......just accept those tax breaks on the Wealthy, they don't want to pay for it, but throw it upon the middle class and the poor. They haven't paid enough with the blood going to fight in these ongoing misadventures......let them pay with public schools crumbling, as the well to do go to private schools, let them suffer with the cut backs to affordable housing being built, the well to do never have to worry where they will live or how to pay for it, let the poor and middle class suffer more without health care, without good nutrition for growing children, fund less for programs like WIC, or meals at schools. Heck, why not pay decent wages and the workers won't need those programs.......oh yes, the Corporate Elites want their cake and eat it too, pay low wages and cut the taxes so they also don't have to pay into social programs to supplement those things to their hungry employees.

Add in our drone program, the costs of those missiles into Libya, the upkeep of all our bases, the war toys for the keeping of the well oiled war machine going so that those who make money from it keep the life style they are comfortable in......all the while telling the hungry masses with bridges falling into rivers and those still with no health care......that it's for their own good, their safety, their Patriotic duty.......but DO NOT QUESTION.

It isn't enough that we have our own misadventures but we must support others who are having their own misadventures all for some noble cause of coarse, all for the sake of "something"......yes, let us throw some more tax dollars that the Wealthy wiggle out of, the Corporations wiggle out of, let us ask the Elders of the US to cough up some more before they die, let us strip away some more children's future of success because we always have the War Machine to feed or the Prison Industrial Complex to keep going.....

Certainly DO NOT QUESTION that from 2009 to 2018, the United States is scheduled to give Israel--the largest recipient of U.S. assistance--$30 billion in military aid.

Remember, we are cutting assistance off to single parents with children in our own Country. Can't give the Elders a few more dollars in Social Security so they might live a little more comfortable......can't help our own Veterans with housing and health care........

In fact the U.S. provides Israel $8.5 million in military aid each day, while it gives the Palestinians $0 in military aid.

I think it's time to make those figures know.......we always talk about EQUALITY in the USA. I do think it should be $0......BOTH places. Humanitarian aid only......

I'm tired of supporting destruction AGAINST my Will, Wants, and Desires.......

Take care of our own at home, don't support others who want to continue wars upon people who only want some basic rights, we have little children on our borders who walked miles through horrible conditions and we cry foul, can't feed them, can't give them temporary shelter until we can figure out the best way to humanely help these children...........nope can't give them a meal........but we can support WEAPONS OF WAR.

But don't question anything citizens of the USA.......You are right on track, keep supporting these wars and the things you do question about feeding children, ours or otherwise, simply amazes me.........

"It has become absurd to believe that the JOS (Jews Only State) is an American colony.
On the contrary, America now resembles a Jewish colony. America is not merely ruled by a Jewish elite, it has become the biggest prize in the global Jewish empire."
" While good people bewail the multibillion subsidies provided by America to the Jewish state, Bob Finch states unashamedly: "But these are not subsidies. They are tribute payments that the vanquished pay to their conquerors."
This appears to be the sad truth, my friends.

Thanks Sam for posting, excellent comments from everyone! I keep reading about the 3.1 BILLION dollars in "military aid" the U.S. gives to Israel, sort of like war credits that they turn around and spend on U.S. made weaponry---So the war-profiteering corporations are happy and rich--and that seems to be all that matters these days in the U.S. Guess I'm not the only one to notice this support by the government of this great democracy is all about money. I'm glad to hear that at least President Obama told Netanyahu that the violence needs to stop immediately---and sorry, but not surprised, to hear that members of both parties of Congress were alarmed! Maybe the repubs can discuss it with Boehner at happy hour and decide to add THAT to their list of impeachable offenses Pres. Obama has supposedly commited.

I do not like AIPAC either, but your listing of those running the government leads me to a couple of questions:

Which of the people you listed are in the Obama administration?

You implied that all of these people are Israeli citizens. What is your evidence? I'm Jewish, and I'm not a citizen of Israel.

Wishing the carnage in Gaza would stop.

It's good to see more and more people, more and more nations turning against Israel. The whole world is sick and tired of the Middle East's sacred cow getting away with anything it wants.

I have heard, from more than one source, that the USA gives Israel 7 times as much aid as we give to all the nations of sub-Saharan Africa combined. I can't vouch for this, but if true it shows the power of the Jewish lobby.

Sam H (410)

After U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon exposed Israel’s “atrocious action" in Gaza, Israel responded by killing UN workers. But Israel's crimes against UN officials aren't anything new. I don't know if Count Bernadotte was their first UN victim but certainly one of the early ones.

Sorry Marc, but I don't like where this is going. A list with names of presumably Jewish Americans who may or may not have dual citizenships under the heading
"American / Israeli Dual Citizens Running the American Government: ". Anyone with a Jewish name or background is now suspected of "running the government", whether they back AIPAC in reality or not or whether they are part of the Jewish lobby or not.

Just a list with names, nothing substantiated, reminds me of your McCarthy era and worse, eerily of Europe's 1930s

Lona: I appreciate your comment but I disagree. I am merely attempting to come to a conclusion on exactly why the U.S. would advocate so wholeheartedly, and without reserve, for Israel. Israel has been in violation of international law for decades. It had violated treaties and the Geneva convention. Israel goes against everything the U.S.a. was founded on, and has stood for since the founding of this country. It tortures children, occupies other peoples lands, and is engaging in genocide. Why would our country not oppose these crimes and misdemeanors? We are currently posturing against Russia for far less! And do you really think that the U.S. would side with Israel, after it has committed atrocities if our politicians were not pro Israel??? Really? If anything should remind you of the 1930's it should be the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people!

Marc P (50)
Tuesday July 29, 2014, 5:38 pm
Margaret Goodman: Throughout the world many thousands of Jewish people are as appalled at Israel's actions against Palestine as I am. These good people have led protests, been arrested, and shunned by their fellows. The U.S. media has refused to cover these protests. I printed this list because I see NO members of Congress murmuring a word against the genocide. All I DO here is them marching in lockstep, "Israel good, Palestine bad." That not ONE Senator of dual citizenship has spoken against the carnage speaks volumes. Their silence, their refusal to decry the violence, and their blind support of Israel's every move, no matter how large the violation of international law, speaks volumes.

The article would state:
'While much of the rest of the world watches the Gaza war in horror and scrambles for a cease-fire,...'

most people are not even AWARE of the atrocities against the civilians in the Gaza Strip.
any to who I spoke say Israel is fighting against the terrorists in Gaza because they fire missiles to Israel and have caused so much damage and fear and explain in detail how many Israelis have been killed by the Hamas - terrorists.
This is the world view, the given confirmation by the corporate edia to destroy Gaza as a whole.
(Check BI Sam, you see there how a whole city in the Gaza Strip is demolished within an hour.)

Politicians on both side of the aisle say the United States wants to bring peace to the Middle East -- and that has Jon Stewart wondering just why we're sending so many weapons to the region.
The United States Is Like the Oprah of the Middle East With Weapons

Yes, we want those who make money selling this stuff wants more money. They don't care who it kills. Seems like President Obama and John Kerry were both insulted by Israel.....that should start tearing at the tightly knit fabric.

Meanwhile children die.......Mothers cry......

Marc P (50)

Dandelion: The problem is that the American public is so porpagandized my mainstream media regarding Israel that every attempt at peace that is not specifically designed to rubber stamp, and even glorify Israel's 'defense.' is presented in a way that makes the person advocating for peace look, weak, anti Israel (Thus somehow Anti American...) and catering to terrorists. The fact that Obama and Kerry were insulted by Israel causes no affront to the U.S. public. Instead it is used by Republicans as a talking point on how 'weak' and how 'flawed' our Presidents policies are. Meanwhile the United States has become like spectators at the Coliseum. We create enemies through covert operations and the toss weapons into the arena and let the opponents fight to the death. We don't even care who wins as long as the battles are bloody and we sell lots of weapons. The American public has become so desensitized to violence that many actually embrace cruelty. We relegate the torture and murder of children to comments like "What a shame." or "Tragedy." as we stand by and watch all of this happen while our tax dollars pay for these crimes. So I really don't believe we do want peace! We really wanted peace in the '60s. When we really wanted peace millions of people took to the street and DEMANDED change.

Marc P (50)
Wednesday July 30, 2014, 10:03 am
That should read "The problem is that the American public is so propagandized by mainstream media regarding Israel...."

Sheryl G (363)
Wednesday July 30, 2014, 10:20 am
Yes, just like the spectators at the Coliseum.......and then the fall of Rome. Look at our cities, look at all the mess in our Country.....if people can't connect the dots, which few seem to do......we will go the same way. It's already in the process.

All civilizations that have fallen begin to decay from within and become ever more brutal. History tells us that. We are not in any book in the Universe that exempts us or any other Country from such things.

Angelika left a comment on another thread that I feel fits here.

"Israel has injured itself as much as Gaza. Hatred is a slow poison. When the last Palestinian has been killed or driven out, the Israelis will turn on each other. They have chosen the path of hatred and brutality and now it is theirs." a comment left on a G.Greenwald article.

As with our own citizens in the USA who are turning upon each other from the leadership on downward. The decay within as I mentioned will happen to any Country that continues in a direction of violence yet shouting it wants peace. Talk about speaking with a forked tongue.

Sheryl G (363)
Wednesday July 30, 2014, 10:27 am
"But why should I mourn the passing of our people? Tribes are made of men, nothing more. Men come and go, like the waves of the sea. A tear, a prayer to the Great Spirit, a dirge, and they are gone from our longing eyes forever. Even the white man, whose God walked and talked with him as friend to friend, cannot escape the common destiny. We may be brothers after all. We shall see." Chief Seattle

Although Chief Seattle saw a destruction of his homeland, his people, and way of life......he also knew that a people who Walked in the manner in which did all of that was subject to fall as well.

His other wise quote is: - “Man did not weave the web of life – he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself.”

Be the destruction of our environments or the destruction of our brothers and sisters......whatever is done to others is also done to our own selves. We all loose in this in some form or another.

Interestingly, the post of our friend, Good H., was removed.

This is what his post said:

Miko Peled, Israeli Son Of Military General, Talks About What Is REALLY Going On In Israel, Historically All The Way Up To Today.

The link provided apparently wasn’t acceptable to Care2.

Luckily, our friend, Evelyn

In my own way of looking at things, I chose to refer to Mr. Peled as the Howard Zinn of Israel. When you listen to his speech, you’ll find out why.
