The prairie grasslands were converted between 100 and 200 years ago thanks to John Deere and Cyrus McCormick. If the farmers are planting fence row to fence row again, then it's because the price of Corn and Beans are going up.

(corn-based and similar) agro.fuels are a solution to humankind's energy-needs+wants+whims about as much as heroin is a cure for opium.addiction.

EU is lowering or has weakened fuel-'efficiency'-regulations because they clash wth the goal of having some 10% of agro-fuel mixed in with the 90% of fossil stuff.
