Have you ever heard a screech owl? It's kind of terrifying. It not the screech alone. It's that if you hear it, you're probably out in the middle of nowhere and there are no lights but the stars in the sky, and the sound hits your eardrums suddenly

Thanks for this one Joan! I'd hate to be in the same room if they all got to screeching at once!!

I just love owls. I have a couple, I call them Mr. and Mrs. Mosha, who use a huge tree behind my garden. They sit in the tree high up all through summer days and evenings. Only in winter when the tree looses its leaves do they sit elsewhere. Fortunately, our summers in Africa are long, so I often talk with them. They know me well and they indeed stare me down, while I tell them my secrets. I have known them for more than 15 years now, and they often come and sit on the roof of my house or the chimney. They even sometimes sit on my balcony. They are really, large birds and extremely attractive.

Thank you Joan, this was a nice catch.

Thanks Joan. Nice post. We had a screech in a tree in our backyard. The tree had a large hole in its side and the little guy took up residence there. He/she was so much fun to watch. And they do stare you down.

We live with the doors open and one night we had a Pacific Screech Owl fly in and land on the open door. It is a small owl about as tall as your hand. We turned off the ceiling fans and most of the lights and it then could see how to leave. Off it went. We love these little gifts to be close with nature.
This video is sooooo cute. Thanks for the smile.
