The Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia houses over 65 cats in the basement to protect precious art by catching pesky mice and rats. Most are street rescues and many find permanent homes as a result. What a wonderful success story.

This story is such a wonderful story. Not only are the cats doing good but the musuem staff is helping these homeless cats with a safe place to live and hopefully a forever home.

Lovely article. Thanks SO much for sharing. Cats (and many dogs) are very often not well treated in Russia normally, but these ones are obviously well looked after and have a very happy time :-)
