Johnathan, Bavid D.?...A troll is a troll and deserves nothing more than ignoring, and NOT feeding...

But the truth goes a long way to shutting down this stupidity called war?...Thanks for posting NSSTT!...It's a shame that this kind of news does not appear on the front page of our censored newspapers, but so be it...

JERUSALEM — Israeli combat soldiers have acknowledged that they forced Palestinian civilians to serve as human shields, needlessly killed unarmed Gazans and improperly used white phosphorus shells to burn down buildings as part of Israel's three-week military offensive in the Gaza Strip last winter.

In filmed testimony and written statements released Wednesday, more than two dozen soldiers told an Israeli army veterans' group that military commanders led the fighters into what one described as a "moral Twilight Zone" where almost every Palestinian was seen as a threat.

Soldiers described incidents in which Israeli forces killed an unarmed Palestinian carrying a white cloth, an elderly woman carrying a sack, a Gazan riding a motorcycle, and an elderly man with a flashlight, said Breaking the Silence, a group formed by army reservists in 2004.

Any Palestinian spotted near Israeli troops was considered suspect. A man talking on a cell phone on the roof of his building was viewed as a legitimate target because he could've been telling militants where to find Israeli forces, the group quoted soldiers as saying.

"In urban warfare, everyone is your enemy," said one soldier. "No innocents."

The 110-pages of testimony — along with 16 video clips — of interviews with 26 unnamed Israeli soldiers offers the most comprehensive look inside a military campaign that's become the subject of an unfolding United Nations war crimes investigation.

The Israel Defense Forces dismissed the report...

I wonder why, don't you?

The IDF Spokesman said in response to the report that it was regretful that a human rights organization such as Breaking the Silence had again issued a report that contained anonymous testimonies without checking their veracity and without allowing the IDF, with minimal decency, the opportunity to review the findings prior to publication.

The army called on the organization to encourage the soldiers who had provided the alleged testimonies to submit specific complaints to the IDF so the matter could be dealt with in depth and properly investigated, as opposed to "hiding" behind anonymous testimony.

In its statement, the IDF noted that it had "launched Operation Cast Lead after eight years of incessant rocket attacks against southern Israel. The IDF operation caused severe damage to the Hamas terror organization and restored normal life to Gaza belt communities."

According to preliminary findings by the Judge Advocate-General's Office, the army said that similar to the testimonies published by the Rabin Academy several months ago, the allegations raised in the Breaking the Silence report were based on hearsay and anonymous testimonies that lacked identifying details such as rank, the first letter of the name, the name of the unit, the place and the date.

"The organization's decision to collect testimonies this way creates a feeling that the organization is not genuinely interested in a thorough investigation of its claims, like the one the IDF is committed to," the statement said. "To our regret, this is not the first time that this organization has chosen this method."

The army said it was committed to investigating every complaint based on information that allows a thorough probe. The military said it expected every soldier or commander who suspected they had witnessed a violation of military code to pass on the information to the relevant authorities.

The Breaking the Silence report is the latest in a number of reports that have been severely critical of Israel's three-week operation against Hamas earlier this year. Last month, in the span of a week, Human Rights Watch, the International Red Cross and Amnesty International released reports accusing Israel of perpetrating war crimes against the Palestinians.

In response to those reports, the IDF said soldiers had done their utmost to minimize harm to innocent civilians.

"During Cast Lead, the IDF used technologies, combat methods and advanced platforms all intended to minimize the risk to the civilian population," the military said at the time.

The IDF said that in many cases, before entering an area in Gaza, it had dropped millions of flyers, made personal phone calls to homes of Palestinians and broken into the radio waves to warn civilians of the impending operation.

"The IDF aimed all of its operations against military targets and refrained from deliberately attacking civilians who were not involved in the fighting, while putting its own soldiers at risk," the statement said.

One more confirmation in a long, long list of reports of Israeli abuse, inhume treatment, discrimination, murder, human rights abuses, etc, etc, of Palestinians. In the end the behavior is what counts not the words. The behavior of settlements, attacks, etc, clearly shows Israel wants the Palestinian territory or most of it. period.

To the comment left by Sweet M...

Israel HAS been proven guilt countless times, international human rights organizations and even the UN have stated they are guilty, they are protected by the US and people like you.

Do you actually think the UN knowing full well that the US supports anything Israel does would say something leading to statements like this:

Miguel d'Escoto Brockmann said that the international community should engage in a 'boycott, divestment and sanctions' campaign against Israel, similar to those enacted against South Africa two decades ago."

Israel has engaged in a military occupation of the Palestinian territories since 1967, with an increase in military presence since the year 2000.

The people of Palestine continue to live under martial law, with no control of their land, sea or water. In his remarks, d'Escoto said that Israeli policies in the Occupied Palestinian Territories appear similar to the apartheid of an earlier era, a continent away.

He said that the United Nations should not be afraid to use the term apartheid to describe what is happening in occupied Palestine.

Former US President Jimmy Carter came under fire for using the term 'apartheid' in reference to the Israel-Palestine conflict. He was even prevented from speaking at the Democratic National Convention this year because of his position on the issue.

I saw this and was hoping someone would post it. Love the typical lame answers by the IDF Nazis! They have more excuses then Hitler did! The IDF does not like any group that dare tells the truth or opposes them! I fear for the lives of the Breaking the Silence soldiers. I am glad some of the Jews in Israel are standing up and speaking the truth! That is a good start!

Marty, you don't need to have worries about "the lives of the Breaking the Silence soldiers":

First, it can be just another lie from Hamas propagandists occupying this site - and they are masters of lies. Like you know, all those "Massacres in Jenin" - Never materialized Arafat lie, "Mohammed Durah" - killed by Palestinians themselves. Dont jump to conclusions, you can be played by them.

And second, if there was a crime - there will be a court and punishment. Israeli Army does not behave as
Islamo-Fascists they have to deal with. Last time similart testimonies happen to be proven be baseless.

NetSilent, UN until recently was openly biased against Israel - tens of Arab and Islamic countries will support anything anti-Israel, and their HUGE OIL $$$ surely promotes their cause.

So many biased resolutions passed by UN in the past are shame for the UN.

It appears that Israeli soldiers are waking up to the fact that they have been living the chosen people syndrome long enough and now are getting a conscience and abhorring what they are forced to do under the security lie. The world is waking up and the light of Love is growing. lets keep the light shining bright.
