Mark Wessells hadn't seen his dog for the last six-months and thought someone had stolen the two-year-old black Labrador retriever from his father's home in Virginia. This week Wessells was reunited with his best friend

"Wessells had been moving to another house in Myrtle Beach six-months ago and thought it best if he left his dog for awhile in Winchester, Va. with his father. There Buck would have a big yard to run until the younger Wessells was settled. Sadly one-week later the dog was gone, and even though everyone searched for him, Buck had just disappeared.

But fate never hesitates to throw a curb ball and prove that reality can sometimes be stranger than fiction. Two weeks ago, a black Labrador retriever appeared in the subdivision of Bellegrove at Carolina Forest in Myrtle Beach. Brett Gallagher found the dog and asked neighbors if anyone was missing a beautiful, friendly dog, but no one responded. Gallagher decided to keep the dog and named him Deuce."

I love the video & the story. Michel was a really bad about sneaking out. I had to rescue him so many times. He was micro-chipped really young! Once when I called the police the first thing they asked was if he was mico-chipped. They told me even if they find dead animals they check the chip.

A wonderful story! So glad that the person who found Buck mentioned that he was found as a "stray" and the vet checked for a microchip. I'm sure Buck was ecstatic to be reunited with his person.

I'm not sure about micro-chips but this story makes me a little more trusting of them. I'm just not convenienced they are safe for the pet.

Any pet that has access to the outside of a home without being watched should be microchipped. No exceptions. This is the only way to guarantee that if the dog or cat is found he will be returned. This really is life saving technology.

Oh yeah, and that guy must be some great pet dad. That dog clearly loved and wanted to get back to his owner. Congratulations to the both of you.

Does anyone remember "The incredible Journey:(later remade as Homeward Bound? Tow dogs and a cat traveled over mountains to get back to their people. The original was a true story and quite amazing. this is obviously a smart and loyal dog. I confess I have been meaning to get get my dog microchiped-he hasn't been here that long- but today I put it on my list of things to do this week. Better safe than sorry. What a lovely reunion that must have been
