Thanks Dianne...we haven't heard any rifle fire yet, but guess we will soon as we are surrounded on 3 sides by federal wooded land that is leased to the state ...and hunting is permitted. This seems earlier than usual for firearms...I thought bow season came first and firearms later, around Thanksgiving. Every time my wife and I hear rifles firing we say "MISS!".

I know what you mean Armand, every time I hear it I say "run little deer run",then I have a few choice words for the one doing the shooting.I remember the first time I said this was shortly after we moved from the city into the country and I was standing in my back yard looking out into the woods and I saw a deer,I was all excited because you don't see them in the city too much and here was one almost in my backyard. Then I saw the hunter not too far behind the deer and I screamed as loud as I could "run little deer run" and it took off running...the hunter was not too happy with me...I stood there laughing so hard.

Good work Dianne, you saved a deer!! I hate this season and always hope it will end quickly. We have bow season first in Canada which is totally cruel I feel. I wish they'd all get shot in the butt, of course not the deer!

:( sigh ... I have stood in the front of trappers and in the front of hunters ... people have labeled me and my team militia and terrorists because we will wreck poachers traps, when I faced down Sarah Palin wearing my WLS uniform I was warned that I must never speak with a tone of voice low to her again, and I held the Heli-pad so she could not go shoot wolves ... It's been a pro-found life... I would never change it.. we are losing the fight ..but only wish we could have saved our wolves or at least maybe one of them, they should not have had to die.. damn I miss kids and my grandson miss them.. :(

In nY also! The idiots are out in force and someone let them have rifles that carry bullets over a long distance. Please wear ornage for your own safety and stay out of the woods. Shame that we lose our hiking trails for a month to satify this blood lust.

now the teenagers can't go and make out and drink and smoke pot in the woods.

and people can't let their dogs run free without being watched.

the fees are low, but I think the hunt sabotages should refund hunters, as YOU artificaly scare away their quary.
