On Monday, the BC SPCA announced that the owner of "Captain," a German shepherd who was beaten to death this past July, is being charged with felony animal cruelty.

His alleged abuser is due in court on Dec. 7.

If convicted, Whitlock could face five years in jail, a fine of up to $75,000 and up to a lifetime ban on owning or having custody of animals.
