Right now, with a lack of current information on the dog's microchip, a search is underway for anyone who may recognize her. The owners need to be located, and the person responsible for this cruel act must be identified.

Anyone with information is asked to call 757-357-9292.

Please network this information to help solve this sad mystery.

Thankfully the owner has been found and she is a good friend of mine. Leah was gotten as a puppy for her now 2 year old daughter. Leah is a great dog and has an amazing owner. Hopefully now we can bring the twisted individual(s) who did this to justice.

Fingers crossed for Leah to make it and heal completely. Now, the creep that did this needs to be found and jailed so another prisoner that loves animals gives him/her the punishment deserved. Then rinse, repeat treatment until desired outcome happens. You decide the outcome.

I was heartbroken until I saw the followup comment from Dianne Lynn. Hope everything works out. This is another reason we need gun control. A lot of people who have guns are those with mental conditions and shouldn't have them in the first place.

So sad that this dog was treated this way. Violence against animals should never be tolerated.

Poor sweet doggie. I sure hope she makes it. How can we be sure that the owner didn't actually shoot her??? For all we know he could have...I'm overwhelmed with so much animal cruelty. Animals need equal rights as we non deserving humans have.

As of this afternoon Leah is home, safe with her owner. They are happy to have her back. For those who are wondering, Leah had gotten loose and ran away (which most of us has had happen at some point). Her owner Kristin searched for her for over 24 hours before she found out Leah had been shot. People are criticizing Kris for not taking to facebook to find her dog since it was all over the internet. Rather Kris was out driving around looking and searching on foot for her dog. They are also saying she is a bad owner because an organization is taking donations to help pay for Leah's medical bills. Meanwhile Kris is a single mother raising her child, taking care of her dog, working and going to school to make a better life for her little family. We appreciate all the support everyone has shown for Leah.

Don't listen to the spiteful comments. There will always be critics and people who just want to make others unhappy. They are sad people themselves and rather need our pity because they need others to be unhappy as well. Don't even read what they have to say! No one can judge Kris because no one is there with her and knows what she is going through. Just let's concentrate on Leah and let's be happy that she is still alive and is safe at home again. I wish Leah's owner, Kris, all the best in her endeavours to make a better life for herself and her little family. I'm sure she has learnt from this tragic experience and will keep a "double" eye on Leah in the future. A big kiss on Leah's pretty nose, and lots of positive thoughts for her recovery. xxx

I do hope & pray that Leah recovers from the gun shot & heals well & gets reunited with her family, unless they were the ones responsible for Leah being shot! Who ever did this needs to be found & punished to the extreme of the law for animal cruelty & possibly murder if Leah does not pull through! Thanks Dianne.

I am a little confused here. Tamara G. says Leah is well and back home, others say hope he gets better and find the owner. I will follow and hope to find ot the truth, this is a beautifull dog, she did not deserve this. We have a 15 months old Rotti, just as beautifull. How would I feel if some gun happy coward would shoot our dog. I would do the same to the coward and end up in jail.
