According to the Asbury Park Press.com, the courtroom was so crowded, some visitors were asked to leave. The Morgans were charged with abandonment, failure to provide sustenance, and causing unnecessary suffering to an animal. They will appear in court again in the next few months for another hearing. Keith Morgan also faces an additional charge of interfering with an investigation.

If found guilty of the charges, the couple face six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Six months and $1000 not enough but I'll take what ever the court can decide to do justice.
Scumbags like these NON humans can be banished since they are a danger for all innocents.
Thanks Dianne for sharing.

So glad to hear that Sammy is doing well after what these horrible people did to him! I'm also glad to see that so many people were there in Court and have been following this case to see that at least these heartless scumbags got at least some punishment- not nearly enough for what they did but at least they got something and their reputation as horrible animal abusers will forever follow them! I do hope that the judge prohibits them from ever owning another pet again! They could never be trusted after what they did with poor Sammy! "We reap the seeds that we sow."

Six months' jail is surely not enough; how much time did this dog suffer before being rescued?

Hope they're found guilty and have to serve the time and pay the fine although that's truly NOT enough but it's a good step in the right direction! Hope poor Sammy can find a happy home and live in it the rest of his days!

When are we going to get smart and start executing these psychopaths? Psychopaths abuse animals today and kill people tomorrow!
