AMSTERDAM, Netherlands -- The famously liberal Netherlands has been swinging toward the right, cracking down on immigration, religious freedoms and the freewheeling red light district. The next possible target? Magic mushrooms. The death of a 17-year-o

I don't know much about drugs and I am not saying they should legal or illegal but maybe if these mushrooms which grow naturally, could be collected and broken down into miligrams then maybe such side effects would not be so bad for people...it could be that some of these people just used to much. miligram per body weight or something, maybe would help reduce the problem??? Now I know some would ignore the recommended dose but It was just an idea....of course it would never happen as all these kind of things are always considered soooo taboo or evil or what ever.

The fact is many of these things could have happened because of other drugs or even circumstances that would not involve drugs at all. If you compare the related deaths or violence in America because of alcohol or crack, cocain etc. Iím sure you would find the numbers far outweigh the few deaths that may be assosiated with mushrooms. Not to mention all the deaths from illegal drugs all over industrialized countries. I happen to know for sure that there is really no such thing as taking to many mushrooms only the surrounding circumstances that may cause a ďbad tripĒ. Being able to somewhat regulate the drugs and provide education from the funds the taxes on drugs provide have made Amsterdam more of a model than something to be changed. Though I want to express my deepest sympathy for the family especially if they are reading this. I donít want you to think anything Iím writing is related to your lose, Iím only talking about the subject as fact. Though the cause may have been from the effects of the mushrooms, (if that was her first time, if not there was something else going on here) I would have to blame the people that gave it to her not explaining the effects. I have never heard of anyone dieing because of mushrooms alone, or in combination with pot and or booze. Maybe cocaine or some other drug like that being mixed in.

it also said their was a pre existing mental health issue with the girl. Maybe both together, or like you said other drugs involved caused her death.

The Sad thing is The Same Thing happened to Art Linkleters Daughter #0+ years ago and it was blamed on LSD. Persons with mental problems Can Benifit from halucinogens But They need a Suportive Comassionate Enviornment Not A Bunch of Drunk Tourist kids to Egg them on or Force unwanted Sexual Advances Etc.
The Problem with over regulation of natural products like mushrooms is that they will grow any where and if you Can't cultivate them legally and buy and Sell them: then Kids will go Hunting for them and mistake Deadly poisenous musrooms for Safe ones They Way you know you got the bad ones is when you feel no Halucinatory Effects then you will likely be Dead in 2-4 Days.!..! or Kids will Try Fly agaric?and other halucinatory but dangerous ones I had a friend that worked in a USA head shop that sold those Legal but dangerous ones He got into taking them regularly and died on the floor of Siezures one night.!.!
We need Regulated Clean legal Drugs and Safe Party Zones For The More Risky ones So Kids That expiriment have a Sfe Suppervised place to go instead of Driving around not understanding the Extreme Changes they are going thru Most people Enjoy without problems and Those that do have problems used to be able to get help from thier community Now they suffer because thier is no safe place to go and The Elders are too often afraid of Contributing to the delinquency laws and other legal problems to Acco, pany them we need a respectfull return to Shamanic Ritualls and other ways of Helpiimh people deal with thier Issues Instead of neglecting them and leaving them with no other Choices than Alcohol and Prescription Drugs. Or Street drugs with Bad Chemistry

I use to be totally against any drugs but the more I think about it, the more I think control of it is just another freedom taken away from people. I really don't understand why drugs are so taboo or illegal. I guess the pharmaceutical industry has something to do with it??? I really don't know.
