Noted and signed - as I said, send him to me - he will know what pain, fear and immense suffering is like by the time I am finished with him. What he did was heartless and unforgivable and he should be released to animal activists who I am pretty sure will know what to do with him. What a disgusting piece of filth - how did his mother ever give birth to such a monster - he should have been burnt at birth and sent back to hell.

Sooooooooooooooo signed!!! A person who can commit such a horrible act can be capable of anything. I would be aware if I lived in that area and see to that this man wouldn't be able to get away with this.
Poor little Borko! And for what reason?
Thanks Desanka for these great posts!!!!!

Maybe all good people should just leave this country and leave the idiots to 'help' themselves. If all these values are lost up there what is it still worth being there for accept the animals. No good thoughts on this country left. Shame on those in the picture and lets get a better picture of them on a broader level than their own small narrow minded community.
For those that have doubts believe me there is a better live as soon as you walk out and do something about this.

Yvonne, the only reason to behave is without reason for it concerns nothing but an uneducated ego troubled group of persons proud to punish the most helpless being in the area. They must be so intense stupid...and maybe let by some inbreed anger. Lines should be drawn here and now. We need a bigger force to protect the good souls.

My dear friend Jelca

Bulgarian press (read: Bulgarian government) is THE MAIN INSTIGATOR of the so-called "war against the stray dogs" - this is the exact term that journalist use on TV and in their articles. They encourage the barbaric acts on the stray animals and should be held accountable for this despicable actions.

To explain better: in Balkan ex-communist countries, such as Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia...etc, communism is still alive! We don't have communist governments but we live in a sort of POST-COMMUNIST TWILIGHT ZONE, economically and politically, also when it comes to human and animal rights, and how majority of people thinking. The uncertain future, daily incising poverty and hunger are reason for these violence actions.

Despite signs of change in Eastern Europe, communist problems and mentality are very alive. DESPERATE PEOPLE OFTEN BEHAVE VIOLENTLY! Doctor Litov family and Borko are there victims.

So, I think everyone needs to know what is going on in Bulgaria - until it would be too late! If we join forces, we can prevent further suffering in Bulgaria.

this is actually extremely sad, we Europeans we can very well understand what you're explaining dear Desanka.

However, I have always been convinced that the gratuitous violence (an example of 100000... is Borko and his family) and ignorance (lack of knowledge) they always go hand in hand together.

#7.861 signed and noted - all i can do and more to help the poor Borko - thank you so much Desanka for all the Borko's upgrade

As I posted on the site, this sounds just like Nazi Germany or Stalin's Russia, death camps and all. Is this the true direction that the Bulgarian (read bullies) Government is headed? Why in God's name is the rest of the EU putting up with this? And I understand from another post, from someone in the region, that Bulgaria is not the only country holding on to the communist unthought process for dear life. Another factor, surely Bulgaria isn't a big tourist draw...why couldn't the rest of the EU easily muscle them into this century?

Bulgaria’s own Dr. Dolittle is being persecuted for helping stray animals.

Share Borko’s story. Photo Credit: K9 Rescue Bulgaria

This twisted tale began last May when Dr. Georgi Litov found Borko, a stray puppy who was so badly beaten that his spinal column was severed. Horrified to have found a pup who was treated so heinously, the kind Bulgarian doctor filed a petition to the Regional Public Prosecutor’s Office yet never received an acknowledgment from them. Ultimately, Dr. Litov decided to take Borko in and nurse him back to health.

Due to Borko’s injuries, he was paraplegic at first. Veterinarians were convinced he would never walk again and believed euthanasia would be the most humane course of action. Yet, Borko would not give up without a fight and eventually proved everyone wrong.

The determined pooch made miraculous progress. He was soon able to move his legs and stand up with very little support. Borko also befriended Dr. Litov’s other rescue dogs and quickly became a part of the family.

Unfortunately, this touching tale made a turn for the worst on March 12, 2013. An angry mob who was being filmed by a TV7 crew stormed Dr. Litov’s home. They found Borko and brutally beat him with a baseball bat. Shockingly, this was all caught on camera without intervention. The man seen in the video striking Borko is said to be Borian Dafinov Kirov.

Later that same day, the mob returned for Borko and again, was accompanied by the TV7 crew. Two brutes forcefully entered the doctor’s office, and Dr. Litov quickly called the police.

At first, the officers assisted the desperate doctor, but after several altercations with the lynch mob, Dr. Litov was forced by the group and the police to comply with the mob’s wishes.
Sign the petition to ban the sale of lion meat!

Sign the petition to demand justice for Borko and urge the Bulgarian government to take action against animal cruelty!

The mob searched the premises and found Borko, shaking and trembling. They took pictures of the terrified canine and some of the other animals as “evidence.” At this run-in, the Deputy Mayor advised Dr. Litov to leave the village for his own safety, and the policemen declined the doctor’s request for permanent police protection.

Dr. Georgi Litov has no support from the community, the law, and the media for his noble work with stray animals. Bringing worldwide awareness to this story is crucial to changing the Bulgarian government’s attitude toward animal cruelty. The people who took part in this disgraceful act against a crippled dog should be punished. Sign the petition to demand justice for Borko and to urge the Bulgarian government to take action against animal cruelty!"
