Crane hangings are an especially slow & painful method of execution. In Iran, offenses that carry the death penalty include homosexuality, adultery, & "enmity against God." Fair trials for these offenses are unheard of. Unfortunately, the cranes used...

can anyone else see comparisons here with companies which supplied materials and equipment for the nazi death camp killing machines?
on the other hand, perhaps they see no difference between supplying these cranes and supplying other weaponry. it's all about the profits (not the prophet, though it's a bit about him too).

Terex, huh, only American company on the list. This is what their home page says. I suggested they need a new mission statement, one that reflects their true "core" values. Maybe not as politely as that.

A while ago I used to put up petitions and stories from United Against a Nuclear Iran. The idea was to impose sanctions to try to stop Iran continuing its research and to stop the import of goods used to abuse the citizens. This included cranes. I had little to no interest on such stories from people on care2 despite the thousands of people claiming that they cared about human rights.

As far as I can tell, it is the people who are called Islamophobes who actually do anything. I have yet to see Abdesalam, Just Carole or even the new John D (now a self confessed Muslim in this reincarnation) turn up and sign. Yet these people are there blaming Israel for everything from the very first extinction in the Pre-Cambrian period to the meteorite in the Urals!

Thanks Rob/J for trying to bring this out again, I hope that you are more successful.

Thank you, Rob and J, for this article.

It is disgusting that the Iranian Mullahs have such a disgusting lust for the death of their own. Many people are attracted to violence, death, blood, murder, torture, and there is no doubt that Islam is attractive to them for that very reason. Hitler was a great admirer of Islam for similar reasons.

These companies that sell cranes to Iran should at the very least be boycotted and then brought up for charges of abetting murder. It always amazes me that for so many, money far outweighs any morals people portray themselves as having.

Tolerance of the intolerant is evil.

Western AND Asian companies are selling construction equipment to Iran. In all honesty....what do you suggest they do? Ask how the crane will be used?

Make no mistake....Iran is a horrific nation of thugs and murderers! The people are oppressed and suffer from this ''religion'' so any of them embrace. It's an evil system and I believe we'll see another revolution by young people.

I don't know what construction equipment companies are supposed to do about equipment already sold...demand to have it back?

Strange Fruit

Words and music by Lewis Allen
Sung by Billie Holiday

Billie’s Introduction:
Thank you, thank you, thank you very
much ladies and gentlemen
and now I’d like to sing a tune that was
written especially for me
it’s titled “Strange Fruit” I hope you’ll like it

Southern trees bear strange fruit
Blood on the leaves and blood at the root
Black bodies swinging in the southern breeze
Strange fruit hanging from the poplar trees

Pastoral scene of the gallow south
The bulging eyes and the twisted mouth
Scent of magnolia sweet and fresh
Then the sudden smell of burning flesh

Here is a fruit for the crows to pluck
For the rain to gather, for the wind to suck
For the sun to ripe, for the tree to drop
Here is a strange and bitter crop

(From the 1954 Lady in Autumn album, which is now in CD)

When looking at the article’s pictures, I remembered looking at some old photos of some lynchings in the Deep South many, many years ago. I saw photos where around 15 men were hung from two or three trees in orchards. At the time, I was researching a term paper for a U.S. Geography Course. I was online searching through the Library of Congress for some credible resources. I honestly thought those days were gone for humanity; however, with Islam, they are not!!!

I am puzzled by those who protest Keystone pipeline, which would replace Saudi and Iranian oil with our Canadian oil. Some of these critics call our oil "unethical".

Well, and giving money to those tho hang or behead people publicly is ethical? Paying to those who is waging Jihad and murdering our people is Ethical?

Bob, I can understand your confusion. I do not support Muslim country oil, but that is also not a reason to further dependence on oil. I support clean energy (solar, wind, etc). Tar sands oil is the most toxic oil to use and also it wouldn't even be used in America as the pipeline is simply a way to use America to funnel tar sands oil for export through the gulf. As an American I cannot support these companies ruining America this way. Also, if there is believed to be value of tar sands oil, why not refine it in Canada and America buy from Canada? The reason is the purpose is export to countries other than the US, and to use America to run the pipe through for tax breaks for (foreign) oil companies while having Americans pay for subsidies.

And by the way, speaking of not funnelling money to Saudi's, the largest of these refineries who would benefit from the pipeline, Motiva, is half owned by Saudi Refining Inc., and will receive between $680 million and $1.1 billion in U.S. taxpayer support.

I know you're a good guy Bob. I know you didn't know this about tar sands, but now you do. To truly benefit both Canada and the US, let's end this dependence on oil and push for clean energy. God has generously provided the sun and wind as energy sources. We don't need to wipe our animal habitat to get oil at any cost. Some who call themselves Christian believe we have to right to destroy the environment for greed or any irresponsible action, forgetting that God is the greatest conservationist as not only did He create animals, with land animals sharing the day of creation with humans, He gave Adam the privilege and responsibility of naming them and Noah the responsibility of preserving every species by gathering them into the ark. For someone to say they believe in the Bible and yet push for destruction of species because of oil is hypocritical. American oil companies already have so much oil already sourced to last for decades. As we reduce our dependence on oil by pushing for alternative fuels in vehicles, heating homes, recycle plastics, continue to create synthetic oils for vehicle engines, we will require less and less oil. There is no reason Canada can't do the same and benefit economically responsibly than irresponsibly with tar sands oil.

Pam, the companies can't ask for the cranes back but they are aware of how they will be used if they sell them to Iran. The idea is NOT sell anything more to Iran, to prevent/reduce further abuses.

I will go with Gillian on not selling them cranes..Iran would say anything other than their main purpose of using them anyway we all know that! Some people feel a buck is a buck though and they do not think of what the purpose is though that these cranes will be used for...out of site out of mind!

There are many things in this country and the world that depend on oil to make though..sun and wind alone will not make it!! But I do support wind and solar as we live mostly alone on that.

These insane bastards that do this are just that..insane bastards!! If only those people had a manner in which to defend themselves!!!

I just noticed if you click on the link there are 5 Businesses that use to sell cranes and etc; to Iran that have stopped doing business with Iran! So that is something to think about..all we need to do is put the pressure on the rest of these companies to STOP doing business with them. It appears there is at least one of the companies still doing business with them. I have contacted an organization here in the US to see if there is not something that can be done to pressure this company in particular to stop doing business with them.

Knife can be used to cut veggies or to murder a person! It is the user who determines the use of a tool. If you must chastise somebody, then go after the American, Swedish, Russian and other arm merchants who are selling their killing machines (tools, which are not designed for anything else but killing) to all kinds of sociopaths around the world

Perhaps that is their way of population control, which is getting out of hand, especially in macho patriarchal sharia run countries where old guys can have up to 4 wives and consider siring dozens of children as a proof of their virility ;-)!

There have been psychological studies done on rats that show that the violence in rat populations goes up as shared space becomes smaller. This is the fate of humanity -- as the Earth becomes more overcrowded, human life, and life in general is treated with more and more disdain and compassion disappears. Remember your humanity, even on the smallest level.

~Bob Algeron, Rahman is correct! None of that oil is meant for the U.S.! Even when cleaned, it won't meet U. S. standards. China will be the main importer of this dirty crude oil and will only add to the pollution that already exist in China and will also add to climate change.

Rahman and Russel,

I share your concern about the clean energy, but it is simply not ready for the market. The wind electricity proved to be a loss in Canada. Our electricity costs went up three times. People were advised to switch their energy-consuming activities to the night, when the wind blows stronger. Even without counting the birds killed by wind mills, I am against terminating traditional energy providers until a full replacement is found.

From what I read about tar sands, now they are ecologically much better than they used to be, and often exceed requirements comparing to a traditional oil. You know that pollution due to tankers, oil spills, burning gas and drilling in Russia, Nigeria, Venezuela, etc is much worse than the one caused by tar sands.

Saudis own lots of companies in US, you can't do much about that. But 20,000 US jobs would be lost, and these are US jobs, no matter who owns the company.

When everyone buys goods made in China, is it a wonder that China buys things for themselves, here and there.

Said that, rejection of oil should be rejection of ALL oil, and not just only one Canadian pipeline. When I see boycotts of Saudi oil tankers, I will start to believe these protests.

Until then I consider the whole campaign the best brainwashing ever, done by hundreds of Saudi-Qatar hired bloggers.

If not cranes, Islam will find other means of slowly and cruely killing their own who do not believe in the system.
Frankly, I don't GIVE a damn anymore, as long as they keep it in Iran. A lost cause! In the end justice will prevail and we will have the fanatics hanging on those cranes and the world will ask for more cranes.
