Covered in one of the world's oldest scripts. Coupled with other historical sources & the biblical account, some scholars suggest it described the philosophical basis for the return of the displaced Jews to Jerusalem 2600 years ago

How I'd love to see this! What an interesting thing, and it certainly sheds light on the Jews' claims to their city, Jerusalem as they returned there after Babylonian slavery 2600 years ago and built their first temple, contradicting Muslim claims that Jerusalem is their city (Islam wasn't even in existence until 1400 years ago!)

Thanks

It's a sad story to see how ancient Persia was a place of enlightenment, tolerance and humane policies, and the more humane religion Zoroastrianism were all wiped out when Islam conquered this country 1400 years ago and all that humane enlightenment was exterminated and Persia/Iran is now one of the most anti-human rights places on earth.

if that's not an argument in favour of custiodianship of such historic treasures far from the destructive hands of islamist HISTORY REWRITERS, i don't know what is.
makes you think that one of the reasons the islamists indulge in such wholesale destruction of revealing historic artefacts has something to do with their shame at failing so miserably to measure up.

If I'm not mistaken Jerusalem is not mentioned once in the Koran. It's the eternal and indivisible capital of Israel and if the Arabs don't like it they can go whistle Dixie.

Well, arguments will continue no matter what "proofs" are discovered. When someone doesn't want to be convinced he is wrong, you will never succed, no matter how many facts you present to him!

"Among them may have been the displaced Jews taken captive by the Babylonian invasion of ancient Judea in the 6th century, B.C., subsequently resettled into subservience in Babylon. Coupled with other historical sources and the biblical account, some scholars suggest it described the philosophical basis for the return of the displaced Jews to Jerusalem."

Well I wonder how Iran will claim this is a fraud too, never happened, like the Holocaust. Probably that the world is using an incorrect language technique to read the cuneiform on it. I'll bet their translation would be quite different. They can't deny it exists, unless they get their grubby hands on it and destroy it. And it certainly demonstrates Jews had a MUCH earlier claim to Israel than any Arab culture. But we already knew that, it is only the Arab world that does not. And that is only because the Arab world does not want to take in the Palestinians to whom, as the religion of "peace", they should be offering permanent sanctuary. I won't hold my breath waiting for that one to happen since they seem to dislike Palestinians only second to Jews.

So much rumaging around in the sands of the past... the value of a good exhorcist is huge here... .. the eternal home of the Jews and anyone else who chooses is in the Jeruselem which comes down from above....but most still kick about in antiquities and bones hoping to gain leverage .. instead of seeking the Kingdom of God and the leven of righteousness.. in Christ jesus.

Well-said everyone! I've given green stars too recently to be able to give them again.

Arabs have gone a LONG WAY towards stealing and disposing (Jewish) Temple archaeological artifacts when excavating under the Temple Mount, where the Al Aksa mosque now stands in Jerusalem, but Gene is right when he says here is yet another example amongst many archaeological artifacts that strongly indicate the Jewish people's claims to Israel and their exiles -- "unless the (Muslims) get their grubby hands on it and destroy it."

Arabs are some of the most appalling historical revisionists in the history of humankind, and are still at it today, with Saudi petrodollar influence currently fictitiously rewriting Islam's and Israel's history in hundreds of millions of textbooks used by grade-schoolers around the world.

Better go see this exhibition quickly, before highly threatened Islamists find a way to see that it disappears permanently.

Will artifacts like this give the Palestinians pause in their denial of Jews having a right to exist in Israel? Or are they in total denial because of their Muslim backed hate?

Allan and Gene, Orthodox Muslims will never accept anything but what Mohammed said, no matter how wrong, twisted, contradictory or ugly. Mohammed said Allah said that Muslims will kill all Jews before Allah will bring about the Muslim day of resurrection and that everything in the world that belongs to non-Muslims rightfully belongs to Muslims ("He [allah] does not love the unbelievers"), and any place that was once conquered by Muslims, colonized and occupied by them will always be theirs in their bizarre circular 'logic'.

Orthodox Islam has no compassion, empathy or concern for any non-Muslims, Sharia law even forbids that any of the required Muslim Zakat, charitable giving, to ever be given to non-Muslims. Orthodox Muslims never have, nor will they ever, apologize for all the atrocities committed by Muslims in their conquests (270 million slaughtered over 1400 yrs) because it is what Mohammed and his cruel deity Allah commanded.

The Qur'an and Sunnah are full of hate toward all non-Muslims and orders to conquer them or kill them. No other religion preaches such hate and violence, and Islam is the only religion that doesn't teach the Golden Rule (Do Unto Others ...) except for only other Muslims.

That's why they will never admit that Jerusalem is not theirs and will never care about Jews' claims or concerns. They built their blasphemous Dome of the Rock and al-Aqsa mosque on top of the Jews' holiest site, the Temple Mount, deliberately to give the finger to and offend the Jews'. To Orthodox Muslims they will always be superior to all kafir and will never give any concern for the rights or feelings of others. Allah doesn't care about non-Muslims, curses them and hates them, so why wouldn't Muslims?

This is why Muslims demand special rights wherever they are and demand laws outlawing 'offending' Islam/Mohammed all the while condemning anyone who criticizes their own scriptures that preach hate and violence against all non-Muslims, demean women, condone child abuse and slavery and the killing of those who criticize or leave Islam, gays and rape victims. Unfortunately, few westerners understand this.

Gene, if the mullahs had translated this wonderful cylinder you can bet it wouldn't say anything like it does now. It would foretell the coming the great and noble Mohammed, tell about how Jerusalem belongs to Muslims and how Jews are the occupiers of that land and be a rant of the usual BS and lies they always spew. They don't care a whit about historical proofs, or that there is NO historical proof to back up anything they preach, or that Mohammed even existed or ever lived in Mecca or Medina. This is why Islam produces so few inventions or scientific advances, because it allows for no logic or imagination outside of the very mediocre and inaccurate teachings in the Qur'an and Sunnah. Period.

I tend to forget that the Holy Bible is not necessarily creditable to most everyone on the planet.

Even though, my mind is quite foggy on the issue. I can still remember that a certain prophet arranged for the Jewish people to enjoy the freedom of coming to Jerusalem and repairing the four major gates. Believe it or not, when the Jews were not busy with their subservient duties for their captors, they were free to leave their responsibilities and go to Jerusalem. The Jews were in the process of finishing their seventy years in captivity.

Before their release, a specific prophet negotiated for them the freedom for working with the overly weathered and neglected gates. Apparently, Jerusalem was pretty much vacant except for some disenfranchised people of their captors, a few poor transients, and probably the victims of leprosy. In those days, just a small handful of lepers would be enough to ward off most everyone but the extremely poor.

NOW, my mind is foggy! However, the captors did not desire or covet Jerusalem. It was pretty much abandon for most of seventy years and got rundown from neglect.

Now, especially since the Jews have always loved their God appointed and sanctioned Jerusalem, the Arabs want Jerusalem for themselves.

Oh, there I go again! I tend to also forget that he is not the ONE and ONLY God to most everyone on the planet. My, how quickly do we, mankind, forget!!!

Now, I would keep that barrel-shaped baked clay contract written in cuneiform away from the Arabs and very safe somewhere in a secure vault, because the Muslims will destroy it. Even National Geographic had an article about the Palestinians destroying all evidence of the Jews occupying the land, especially the temple, thousands of years before them.
