What a "maverick" that Sarah Palin was as governor of Alaska to open this door to Shell and scream "Drill, Baby, Drill!" And shoot wolves in her spare time! Of course everyone will find a way to blame it on Obama

Goodness, Nyack, we can't blame this on Palin we need to look to these new politicans and President that is allowing this to take place after it was said ABSOLUTELY NOT! ALAKSA IS OFF LIMITS IN MY OPINION!

My Heart hurts!

no... of course not MmM, not Sarah Palin.... never. It was Obama who said Drill Baby Drill before Obama was even president and Palin was governor of Alaska.

For our would be corporate overseers, profit is ALL that matters. They will drain every drop of oil, liter of water, sliver of wood, and ounce of precious minerals that they can get in servitude of the almighty Profit.

It is about time that the men, women, and children find out about what the corporations and companies are doing in countries other than the USA. This is very bad and most men, women, and children in the USA do not know about things like this. I finally found out -- about 1- 2 years ago. Please do not blame the men, women, and children of the USA. Please make the companies that did the harm pay the people that did know harm -- to clean up this horrible mess as much as possible. HORRIBLE.

There is a simple solution to this problem...make oil companies responsible!! Come up with a plan before drilling...come up with restrictions and penalties for not taking care of business the way they say they will do it! Come up with alternatives and remedies to spills if they do occur. It's quite easy to see the government in Nigeria did not have any clout in making Shell responsible about cleaning up their messes or fixing their problems! Or fining them for the mess they made. Sarah Palin was tough on oil companies and they need to be made accountable for any kind of disasters that happen along with a plan to take care of the problem and contain it when or if it happens!! Accidents can happen in any job that can create a disaster some of which are man made disasters only because of the lack of responsibility by some people to take care of business which is very unfortunate! It's pretty bad when people have to be forced into being responsible BUT it happens!! If this is what it has to take to make oil companies responsible then it has to be done! I agree with Sarah Palin on "Drill baby drill!" I would rather get the resources out of our own country than pay big bucks to countries who hate us and try and kill us so we can make them rich in order to buy more ammunition to use against us!! Tell me what makes sense about supporting some country that hates our guts and wants to kill us when we have our own resources that can be productive and done safely and responsively even if it means fining a company in order to make them responsible!? What is more productive to us as a country!? If ANYONE can honestly say they would rather have us get oil from Saudi Arabia and the other terrorist countries and give them big bucks to end up trying to kill us with more terrorist acts against us I have to question your sanity!!! The reason actions like this happen is because equipment is not fixed and kept up to date..the same thing happened in the Gulf of Mexico spill. There were malfunctions reported that should have been fixed and they weren't!! THAT is the problem! People need to contact their Congressmen and Senators and get them to make strict punishment fines for oil companies that do not conform to responsible maintenance of oil rig equipment...if they want to operate then make them pay before they start!! Until this is done nothing is going to change and all of the hollering and complaining about Sarah Palin hollering "Drill Baby Drill" is not going to make a hill of beans of difference! Sure oil companies make money..that's why they are in the oil business just like anyone else who makes money in a business. I would say anyone who stayed in a business to lose money would be a couple cards short of a deck! Isn't that what all of us want is to be able to make enough money to live comfortably!? Well oil companies make a lot of money so make them put some of that money up front and let them know what it's going to cost them if they don't take care of and maintain their equipment in order to prevent accidents from happening!! If the support is there from the people they will have to listen...but it will have to go through your Senators and Congressmen and don't let up until they do what you want them to do. Put the pressure on them...make them responsible too!! Just complaining about oil companies is not going to do anything but depress people more and it will do less in order to get them to comply with the rules!! ACTION is what will make a difference. One thing is for sure I am TIRED of making terrorist nations rich trying to kill us!!!

This is horrible, but as usual the world is ignorant or pretends not to know.
The real power that rules the world right now is the energy and tomorrow will be the water.

Shell, together with its friends oil multinationals, are devastating, bribing, killing without any government opposes because these multinational are paying all our governments without exception.
Of these governments there who can save a minimum of face (the richest) and who becomes the worst prostitute selling also soul (the poorest)

But what can we do?
I believe that our only weapon is the amount, is the huge number of people around the world who do not want this, we will scream in the streets in the media and everywhere that the cursed power of oil becomes green energy that would save us all at once to our environment and to all animals.

But maybe this is just a beautiful utopia that will never come true until the man will not take knowledge of what he is doing to his home

The sad news is always more popular in us, but our subconscious protects us making them ignore
US SAVE THE ALASKA !!!!

thank you so much Marilynn

Simple solution..Really..Oil spills..gas flaring and pollution are all having a devastating impact on the land and rivers/oceans these communities depend upon.. Is anyone actually ignorant enough to believe that this would/will ever change..

In the wake of the largest environmental disaster in our nation's history..years later..491 miles of Gulf coastline remain contaminated by oil ..Shell should not be allowed to destroy America's one and only Arctic..They should not be trusted..never again..

Government approval of Shell’s plan to conduct new deepwater exploratory drilling off Alabama’s coast in waters 2000 feet deeper than the BP Deepwater Horizon even though regulators acknowledge that the operations may result in an oil spill ten times bigger than last year’s disaster in the Gulf of Mexico..This was challenged by Defenders of Wildlife..Center for Biological Diversity..Natural Resources Defense Council..and the Southern Environmental Law Center filed suit in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit in Atlanta..

Nobody knows how to contain or clean up a spill in the harsh and remote seas of the Arctic.. If a "blowout" were to occur late in the drilling season..there would not be time to stop it before the winter ice chokes the site..leaving oil to gush uncontrolled for months..

And does anyone really think these oil companies care..That they can be made responsible for their actions..They only care about their own profit..no more no less..
It is a nightmare indeed..

Shell Sucks.....greed and selfishness today will lead to an uninhabitable world....unless we are all able to look forward and change our energy resources and make some sacrifices today, before future generations everywhere will be forced to sacrfice since resources won't be available.

Marilyn..That is great to sign petitions in something you believe in....as I believe in we start taking care of our own by drilling our own oil and as I said making the oil companies responsible. The only other alternative is buying oil from terrorists nations who want to kill us and will not hesitate to do so. So what is the lesser of two evils!? Make oil companies responsible and force them to comply or support terrorist nations by buying their oil and paying them exuberant amounts of money to come up with ways to kill us!?!? Which one is worse!? And on top of it everyone screams to stay out of wars when they will be inevitable! It just don't make sense!!

have friends in Alaska - have lived there for years - they can't stand Palin - she doesn't fight against any of tis as governor or anything - all she wants is the limelight - and Obama continues it but as I think Nyack said - started with Bush - I would say senior and as many have said - greed - Halliburton is one of the major oil companies - basically owned by the Bush family - we are merely peons in their global agennda - us and the animals. Thanks Marilyn.

Fear of change, fear not to make billions, same old same old - why are we still so dependent on oil? 21st century with all the $$$ spent on the space program it would have made more sense to find another source for fuel...there seems to be plenty of garbage... big business is stuck in the 1800's and early 1900's it's disgraceful and proof of how lazy big money is! thanks Marilyn
